Thank you! Thank you, and praise God for another day just like always. I praise
God! You just tuned in to Remnant TV, and you are watching the You Can Overcome
show indeed you can! We are on episode I think number six or seven, but the main
thing to know is that we are on the episode that is going to be talking about how to stay
motivated; so stay tuned. So, welcome
to this show. I wanted to start out with a couple of shout outs. One is Deborah
on Facebook, and she just started reading the Weigh Down Diet book and found it at a
thrift store. I love that! And then after praying to God for help with losing
weight, she started turning every part of her heart over to God, but not just a little
bit she decided to do the whole thing, and she is doing great! So praise God for
Deborah! Then I wanted
us to do a shout out to Beth from South Carolina, and thank you for dying to your will. It
is the hardest thing, she said, she had to do, but she is determined, and she said she
is not going to give up. So let us give her a hand too, and praise God for you.
If you just tuned in, this is a live, interactive show, and what you can do is make comments
while we are going through this; and thank you for your comments. Everyone last week
just really got me pumped up and everybody else.
Today is about motivation, and you can write in and
tell how you became motivated. But before you become too distracted and give a long
dissertation, just put in a couple words and send it in. I want you to listen for a
few minutes on how I stay motivated. How did all these people in Weigh Down stay motivated
to go all the way? Well, it is the secret wisdom from the Heavens. People are temporarily
motivated in life by many things. They are motivated by money, and they are motivated
by the praise of man, but there are many things that motivate a person to start over when
trying to lose weight, to get back up on that Monday morning and start over. You have
got all kinds of things going through your mind. First of all, I want you to know
it is natural. God created man to long to get rid of the unwanted pounds. That
is natural; it is a God-programmed drive. I have never had anyone call me up and say,
I am overweight and I want to know how to gain more weight so that I can become obese.
That has never happened! No, rather, people pay billions all the time to lose weight in
this world. The reward of the freedom from unwanted pounds is motivation.
The one thing that you need to know to get started
and to keep motivated or inspired is a secret. Why have you not lost the weight?Because
theinstinctive godly drive is overridden by the craving for the idol of food. The
desire overrides and overcomes that godly input to lose weight. But there is more!
Think back to why you left Weigh Down years ago.People left because of the prophecy
of Jesus, from the Parable of the Four Soils. When the sun comes up and the going gets hot
and the sun comes out in the desert and it is uncomfortable, people wilt in the heat
of the desert. Pain and suffering make you want to quit. Right? So we see
that the craving that we have down inside of us, mixed with the pain, kills the motivation.
Well, how can we overcome? This needs to be answered,
because many dear seekers have returned, and I just want to give a shout out to all of
you who are returning back on Facebook, back onto the TV show, back into the classes.
Welcome home! But how do you pass the test this time that you are back so that you do
not give up and return to Egypt? Well, the secret to motivation is wrapped up in
the knowledge of the will of God and His purpose of suffering. There are two types of
suffering self-induced suffering and then cross-induced suffering. Let us start with
the self-induced. You are most familiar with that. It is the suffering you choose
that results from the love of the food and the alcohol and from the love of this idol.
That is what the self-induced is, and it is brings upon yourself multiple health problems
and the fears and mental stress that comes with that, and from the worry that you are
killing yourself, which, by the way, you are. There is the self-induced suffering from not
being able to help your family as you should because you are too tired. There is the
suffering and pain and stress of strained relationships due to the weight, the stress
and the pain of not being able to find clothes and glorify God with the looks that He gave
you that are now distorted, and then the stress of missing the abundant life. The choice
is made in your heart and mind and now winds up causing you suffering.
Now what is the cross-induced suffering? Well, they
both have pain. Are the pain levels different? No, both are very painful the one from God
and the one that you induce upon yourself. In fact, I am going to rate the pain of cross-induced
suffering right up there on a scale of ten for both choices, so they are both equally
painful. So what is the difference? Well, the context and the purpose and goals and
end results are different. The context, the purpose, the goals, and the end results
this is the secret to motivation that helps you lose every unwanted pound, so listen
up! Let us talk
about the context, the goals and the purpose all packaged together. It is so different.
It is way different! The context is cross-induced and is being surrounded by God and Jesus and
His Heavenly angels who aid you and protect you. And you have got Gods Spirit that
guides you, all cross-induced. And the result, then, if you do it right, is answered
prayers rather than being surrounded by the laughing demons that are enjoying seeing you
choose a destructive path that is the difference.
Now the purpose: The choice of living for self-indulgence
means you will be becoming more and more selfish and therefore increasingly miserable. That
is bad that is the food idol, and the food idol is a fake. It is just an organic
package of food. Organic means that it is going to spoil, and Jesus said, Do
not work for the food that spoils. Work for the Kingdom that is forever. It is
making a choice to work for God. Working for Satan is such a waste of time, and it
brings you back nothing but suffering! God is the better employer, yet in the context
of living for God, you are becoming more and more selfless, and your eyes are on the big
picture of glorifying God, which is fun, so that you can expand His Kingdom, which is
even more purpose and more fun. Then you are proving to the world that Jesus yoke
is easier. Now back
to the context. What is around you? It is way different. You do not live for
the end of the day. Here is the difference; listen to this. You do not get up every
day and live for the end-of-the day binge; but rather you live hour by hour for the battles
and the victories. No more night hideouts that end in passing out and being bloated
and sick the next day. Now each day is full and consistent with this hour-by-hour
victory versus night-time binging, and this context brings blessings and answered prayers,
so it builds your faith in God. And it grows more and more, and then you fall in
love with God, because there is no one on the planet, I am telling you, you are not
going to find it; there is no one on the planet or in the universe...they keep sending space
ships out to these planets to see if they can find life, but I am telling you, there
is no one on the planet who loves you more than God.
Now, there is suffering in both, so what is the difference?
One is delayed suffering, and it ends in increasing pain delayed suffering, but increasing
pain in the end. But one is purposely facing that suffering, and then, guess what! The
pain gets less and less every day. I am a testimony! Every day it is less for me.
Delayed suffering uh uh! It ends in overwhelming pain great pain. I
know your pain. You keep over-eating, and your suffering will be so enormous that it
will literally kill the body, the mind and the soul, and it destroys joints and bones
and the major systems of circulation, the stomach, the intestines, the liver, the kidneys.
Delayed suffering: If you push that off, it equals great suffering, because all of
these things rob you of life. The emptiness and void in you will drive your mind insane,
and it brings grief and pain in the end and disappointments in self and hopelessness and
fear and the pain in knowing that you have disappointed your Creator. That pain is
what I am talking about. It is so great, you do not even really know where your pain
is coming from; but that is what it is. But you disappointed God and hurt His Kingdom.
It is almost an unbearable feeling. You do not even want to live, and depression is
imminent. This depression can be felt when you slow down at all. The pain and fears
are so overwhelming. I know what you have been doing. You dread slow moments and
the terror of slowing down and feeling reality. And there are not enough drugs in the world
to treat this. There is not enough food to make you pass out and get rid of this pain.
You are going to wake back up, and the pain is going to be there in greater measure.
The end is death, spiritually and physically. When the
pain of this suffering exceeds the cross, guess what! Hello! You return back to
the cross, to Weigh Down. Weigh Down the cross that is all it is. It is Christs
program; it is Gods program. In cross suffering, you face the pain, and then it
lets up. Denial leads to less pain, more joy, the joy of victory, the joy of health,
the joy of glory to God, the joy of pleasing God, the joy of pleasing Christ, the joy of
pleasing the Heavens! So in summary,
when you choose the cross, pick it up, and the pain is over quickly. You choose the
idol, and the pain increases daily. So there are two paths, two choices: Delayed
suffering or embraced suffering. Gods suffering holding the tongue, holding
the eating, holding the ***, holding whatever.... When you wise up and realize that God has
chosen His suffering to train you, it turns you into a new creation, and you accept it
and you face it. You get up and go, That is what I am going to take. That is
the secret to motivation; and then it is over, and you are increasingly blessed and transformed,
and eventually the pain disappears. No more tears in Heaven. It makes sense.
I have chosen suffering. When you choose Christ, it brings
with it the hate of the world. Jesus says in John 15:18, If the world hates you,
keep in mind that it hated me first. And No servant is greater than his master
(John 15:20), so you need to expect that kind of suffering when you come to the cross.
But you have the peace, with that hate, that you are on the right path, though it is very
painful; and at the end of it you will be refreshed. In I Peter 5:10 it talks about
that, like when you are done with suffering, then God will come back and refresh you.
I have been through great suffering. I know it; I can identify with it. I know
your pain, but I want to show you the end result of my suffering. God has refreshed
me, and I have some special little bitty guests who are going to come up on the stage for
a second, and I pray that you see how God has blessed me, and He will help you with
your motivation to stay on that suffering path. My cup overflows!
Come on up here, babies. Come on up here. Yeah,
Gracie and Gweneth, okay, want to sit over here? Want to sit over here by Gigi?
You can put your little chair right here and let Gigi sit right there. Okay? Yeah,
right here. Yeah, hey baby, I love you. Want to sit by Grace? Oh, you want to sit
in my lap, dont you? This is Gloria. We have got one more baby, though. We have
got one more baby. Here, Gloria. You sit over here. You want to sit with Gracie?
We have got one more little one. Oh my goodness! This is the newest one, and this
is baby Gates. Do you want to hold baby Gates? Okay, lets go around and say
our names. Okay, lets get the mic, and lets say our names. My name is Garland.
My name is Gweneth. Hi, my name is Gracie, and I love God. This is Gloria,
and she is two now. That is Gates, and that is Gabriele, and I love you guys.
GWEN: Let them see Gates. This is Gates, and
here we go, Gates over here. GRACIE:
And this is Gloria. GWEN:
Give her back to her mommy. Okay, and then do you want to say your name? You are Gabriele,
right? I know it is hard to remember names, isnt it, so may Gs? Okay, and this is
Gloria. Can you say hello? And this is six, that you are looking at, and we just
had number seven two weeks ago, and it is baby Henley, a boy! And we are all blessed
with baby Henley who just came. You want to say everybodys name?
GRACIE: My name is Gracie, Im six, and this is
Gweneth, she is four, and here is Garland, and she is four. Gloria is two now, and
Gabriele is four too. So these are three triplets, and I praise God for a brother.
GWEN: Yay! Praise God! Thank you all for coming
up here. Okay Gracie, thank you all for coming, and we have got some music and a candy
cane for you all. Yes, if you will give everybody a candy cane as you all walk off
the stage. Can you all say goodbye to everybody? Want a candy cane? Here we go. Thank
you all for coming. These are my blessings, my babies. You want to give me a kiss?
Yes, give me a kiss. So I praise God. I am showing you this because my cup is overflowing,
obviously, and I cry thinking about how many blessings I have got; and this can be yours.
I want to bring to the stage today, my co-host today
is Tedd Anger, and he understands fully the cross suffering, and his life has also been
blessed, so let us welcome Tedd to the stage. Thank you for coming today!
TEDD ANGER: Are you kidding me? Absolutely my honor!
GWEN: Oh my goodness! Here, lets have a seat,
Mr. Tedd. Here, you want to sit here next to me? And lets start with your story,
because I mean you understand the suffering, and you understand what I am talking about,
so... TEDD ANGER:
Amen! You were the first one to explain that scripture in Peter, you know, Since
Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves with that same attitude, because he who is
done with suffering is done with sin, and I honestly was ready to be done with suffering.
I suffered. I tried everything else. I tried running, you know, running it off,
and all I did was damage someones treadmill. I tried taking the fat out, I tried taking
the carbohydrates out. I was definitely somebody looking for answers, and this program
was introduced to me by my wife. So I would come home, when we first got married, and
watch her lose weight, and I am gaining weight, and we are eating the exact same thing.
So that blew the doors off what I had been taught my whole life.
GWEN: There is your picture there, Tedd.
TEDD ANGER: Oh yeah, it is just total joy! Nothing
but joy! That will be on my Christmas card this year. Anyway, that about sums it up
right there. You know the thing was, is that like everybody else you heard it is the
foods fault, it is this fault, my family; you know, we are just husky people. You
know, we are big. Were Norwegian, you know, and all this kind of nonsense. So
you buy into it. You totally buy into the lies. So all of a sudden getting introduced
to that, watching Candace fade away in front of me, whatever is falling off of her is landing
on me, and I am like, Wait a minute! We are both eating pizza. We are both eating
Chinese food. We are both eating the same thing. And she said, Tedd, it is
the Weigh Down. It is the Weigh Down. So she was very humble about it. I did
not, like, wake up with a Weigh Down book on my chest, you know, like...
GWEN: Did you think it was just for women?
TEDD ANGER: I did at first, because the program was being
held at our church, and it was all women in the class. So you know, it is like, well,
you know, I will put my foot over the water... You know, are men allowed in this room?
GWEN: Is it not great now that it is all on demand?
So it does not matter. TEDD ANGER:
I love it! GWEN:
So it does not matter your age, you do not have to worry about anything.
TEDD ANGER: This is totally for men, and anybody who has
been watching this show knows, I mean some of the most incredible testimonies are Andy
Sorrells, two hundred fifty pounds down. I talked to a guy yesterday, Gwen. He just
started. His name is Bryan Emerson, and he is awesome, and he came up to me and he
said, You know what? I started Weigh Down Basics on Sunday. This was yesterday,
Wednesday. He goes, I am down ten pounds, and my wife is down seven. He said,
I have tried looking for happiness in every other way. He goes, I was ready for
a change, like the song said, and I am like, I can testify to that. I was ready
for a change. I was done with the suffering. I hated that these other things did not work.
 GWEN: Self-induced suffering.
TEDD ANGER: It was awful. It was awful, just what you
were talking about. Then embracing the cross, and then like you said, like you suffer
for a little while, and the joy and the peace! It is inexpressible joy.
 GWEN: Okay...
TEDD ANGER: It is the peace that transcends all understanding.
GWEN: Okay, let us talk about it for one minute,
okay? TEDD ANGER:
Okay. GWEN:
Alright, so what we were talking about, to just add to the story, so you suffer, you
face that suffering and then you have got joy at the end of it. And you suffer, joy,
suffer, joy. Okay, over here, let us go the other way. You delay the suffering,
but then you suffer, and it gets heavier, and even inside a years time this person
is over here and this person is over here. Now take that out five years. Take that
out ten years. You finally do. TEDD ANGER:
That was me. I was the guy over here. It was worse and worse. It was more empty
every year. You described it perfectly when you said when you slow down the pain
was enormous, honestly. That is why I was on a treadmill.
GWEN: What did you do to cover it up?
TEDD ANGER: Well, drank, ate, you know, ran around looking
for... I filled my heart with what the world had to offer, and it left me completely
broken, and it was very depressing. I would lie on my bed at night going, There has
got to be something more to this. So what you have taught has truly revolutionized
my life. And then to watch other people go through it and to see it click in their
brain, like talking to Bryan yesterday, if I wanted to go to, like, Brian, wait, just
wait. It gets better every day. And like you said, the tests will come. I mean,
there is suffering with this, but the joy that comes from it and the peace... And
that suffering that comes is nothing compared to me lying in my room absolutely broken,
miserable, overweight, with my body falling apart and empty. That was the worst pain;
that was the worst thing in the world. GWEN:
So would you say it is the secret, then, that we are onto something and that it is the secret
to motivation? TEDD ANGER:
Absolutely. GWEN:
So could people keep going... They are writing in on Facebook. They are writing
in that they will keep going, but how to keep going, or I messed up. How can
I get it to where I am consistently not messing up?
TEDD ANGER: I think the number one thing for me personally,
to start, is I never want to go back to that life again. I never want to go back!
But when I was getting started, that is what it was. I was fed up with the pain of the
self-induced suffering. That was number one. Number two was getting myself into
the truth. So Candace was playing the videos when I came home, and I kept listening, going
what is that? What is that? So when I started applying it, it changed me. I
dropped ten pounds pretty quickly, but I did not jump in the middle of it. Because again,
I thought, Oh, it is a womans Bible study kind of a thing. So I gained the
weight back and a little bit more. That frustrated me even more, so that is when I
got into a class. So Candace was like, Hey, they are starting a new class.
Do you want to get in? Now I am in the class and watching the videos. I am doing
the homework at night. I am listening to the audios, and I am surrounding myself with
people. I am getting encouragement from people who are laying it down. I am not
getting encouragement from people at work saying, Im doing this and Im doing
that, because their stuff was not working. It was obvious.
 GWEN: Right.
TEDD ANGER: And their joy I did not see any joy in
their face, but I am looking at Candace like smiling from ear to ear, and I am like, I
want that. I want that. So those were the basic things, and then obviously
continuing on, what keeps me motivated now? Listening to you on Wednesdays and Saturdays,
listening to Truthstream. I get Weigh Down Chronicles. The music, the beautiful music
playing in the house that always points us up. And of course being around like-minded
people. I mean people who want to walk in the footsteps of Christ and truly understand
that it is a joy to try to follow into that footstep or even to taste at all the sufferings
of Christ so you can show God that I am the real deal. I am the genuine thing,
God. You did not waste Your grace on me. You know? This offer you have given
me I am taking advantage of, and I never want to lose it.
GWEN: You are motivating. I mean, we like being
around you, I am telling you. It does, iron sharpens iron, and men sharpen men.
It is beautiful. I mean I tell you what, you have been very inspiring, and you and
David Martin both over at the office all the time, and you all are strict on it. I mean
you are spot on when it comes to just your weight is always consistently the same.
You are always upbeat. You all are just incredible leaders of God and Christ and His
Kingdom. So it is incredible. Hey, what kind of comments did you and Candace find
this week? TEDD ANGER:
Yeah, well let me go to the top, and this is it! I mean, if you think you had some
challenges over Thanksgiving? Julie from Facebook: This past Saturday our house
caught fire and ended up burning to the ground. This would normally seem like a time of stress.
I used to be a stress eater, but I have been doing so well with only eating due to
hunger because of Weigh Down. And also because of Weigh Down I felt closer and closer
to God, including in this time. I usually ask God to remove the trials I go through
and rarely see the good that has come out of it until after it is over. But this
time I found myself praising Him and thanking Him over and over for what He continues to
provide, even in the midst of a trial. I am so thankful for Weigh Down for helping
me overcome and helping me draw closer to God who has given me a change of heart.
So she is praising God... GWEN:
Is this Julie? TEDD ANGER:
Julie, yes, Julie from Facebook. GWEN:
Okay, we are very sorry about the house, and if there is anything we can do...
TEDD ANGER: Yeah, email in, please; email in. Kimberly
from Colorado: I have read over and over from successful Weigh Down participants
that I should sign up for a class or listen to audios, watch videos from Gwen, but I just
now got it. It does help. I was trying to just read the book and that was all.
Being involved really makes a difference. So again...
GWEN: She is talking about what you are saying.
The whole package! TEDD ANGER:
Yeah, listening to it during the day. You already read stuff.
GWEN: Why do you think God would want that? I
think I know why He wants it. He wants a community. He does not want people just
isolated out there, and Oh, I found it. There is something about a community and building
a community that glorifies Him. If it is what He wants, it is what He wants, and I
just saw in my own life that it took the community and fellowship, or like you said, like-minded
believers to get it all. Are there any comments coming in from live right now?
Are we receiving any? Shoot those over if we are getting any live comments now.
Like you can write in and say what kept you motivated, or what has motivated you. And
anybody in the audience, if you want to sneak something up too, if you have anything.
TEDD ANGER: I have another one here. Cheryl from Virginia,
talks about not mixing the messages, because this is a message from God. This is different
from what is out there, obviously, so Cheryl from Virginia: I cancelled my Weight Watchers
account and signed up for Truthstream this week, and I lost five pounds this week eating
regular foods within hunger and fullness. So no more of the food charts.
GWEN: The cost of Truthstream and overeating do
not even compare. It costs a lot more to overeat than it does to eat the food that
makes you lose weight. Then you need even less food, and then you start actually saving
money. You always save money doing it Gods way.
TEDD ANGER: Amen to that in everything.
 GWEN: Yeah, in everything.
TEDD ANGER: Candace and I spent hundreds and hundreds
and hundreds of dollars on food, and we saved hundreds when we started doing this program
together. We saved hundreds. Truthstream is pennies a day. It is not even a dollar
a day. Actually there is a special today for all new people, so...
GWEN: We are blessed to have Truthsteam. If you
cannot afford it, we will scholarship you. We need people to support, if you want the
TV show and everything going, people need to donate.
TEDD ANGER: I would love to say something about that if
I could. I mean I feel like this ministry has done an awesome job of showing you the
fruit. You know, showing you the changed lives and getting the truth out there, but
I feel like the management team here, we have been convicted of not really sharing the needs
of the ministry, and people do not realize that it takes twenty giving people just to
put this program on, this one-hour program. So I know me, I spent money on so many different
things in my life. I used to spend like twenty five bucks a month on the New York
Times. Talk about a waste of money, you know what I mean? I am sorry, but I remember
what my Starbucks budget used to be and food budget, but if I could give money, time and
money, to something that has completely set me free, to something that completely changes
my life, and then, as God...and that is what we were talking about last night; God gives
back so much, you feel like the time you are giving, and then what you get back is more
than what you even came close to doing. So if you want to give, if you want to help
see this program continue, this You Can Overcome, if you want to see Weigh Down
Chronicles and all the websites and all of this that is coming out of this ministry continue,
you can give. You can go on the website and give, and donate during this time.
GWEN: It is a part of this suffering or the giving
that comes back. Have you got one more? TEDD ANGER:
Sure, I love this Katie Schwarzkopf, and actually I just saw an update on Facebook that says
she is down sixty-two pounds since August fifth since August fifth!
 GWEN: August? Yay!
TEDD ANGER: Praising God and Gwen for this program.
I led it in the nineties at my church. The world got in there and set me off over
a decade of wrong focus. I am grateful to come back to this and have this program
as well as all the resources. Down sixty-two since August!
GWEN: Praise God, Katie, praise God! And you
have come back! TEDD ANGER:
It is incredible! GWEN:
Yay! TEDD ANGER:
So encouraging! GWEN:
We cannot wait to meet you! So praise God! TEDD ANGER:
And then just more people: Chris O. from Canada, saying, I am someone who always
learned things the hard way, and I can testify after exhausting all other methods of weight
control that Weigh Down is the only way that works, because it is Gods way. Thank
you Gwen, for faithfully persevering to keep it available to us.
GWEN: Well, it is Gods, and there is nothing
else out there. I mean it is Gods way, and God called me to do it, and you know what?
You have to suffer, but in the suffering, look at the end results.
TEDD ANGER: And you always taught replacement, from the
first day I ever heard you. You know, Jesus said you must love the Lord your God with
all your heart, soul, mind and strength, so how do you do that? You have taught us...
Look, you are already reading something. Why not read the truth? Why not read Gods
Word? Why not read something that points you up? You are already listening to something.
Why not listen to something that points you up? You are already spending your time
on this. Why not spend your time on doing the will of God or doing something that builds
up His church? It has been amazing! GWEN:
And your life, I mean before we bring on the next guest, I mean just your life is like
mine. I mean I just brought on all these babies, which has been my favorite part of
the show so far. But just to even get to touch them and kiss them, you know? But
the blessings, and you have been so blessed. Your marriage, your children are beautiful.
I do not know if there is a picture that you can put up of this gorgeous family, but look
at that! It is Candace, of course, and then Daniel and Alexa. It is beautiful,
and then your extended family. TEDD ANGER:
Yes, my parents, my sister, my cousins... GWEN:
Thats right, they are Norwegians. There are a lot of them!
TEDD ANGER: They are running after this; my mother loves
God. My sister loves God. My cousin, I have got all these nieces and nephews who
want this. So to be around that... You talk about a peaceful gathering at your house
during the holidays nothing but joy! Nothing but joy! Who cares about the food!
And it is always incredible anyway. I mean like no one is focused on it, but you get
back a banquet that you could not buy in the most expensive restaurant. So the blessings
are amazing, and the answered prayers, something that you taught us from day one about how
to go to God using the triangle... If I had to write it down, there are numerous ones
every day, that is all I can say. It is every day, and
GWEN: You cannot live without it.
 TEDD ANGER: Just the prayer...
GWEN: You cannot live without praying and getting
the prayers, and then I still to this day, I actually cry more than I used to cry.
I mean I do not know what is with that, but I am becoming more and more emotional all
the time, these church services, and testimonies. Speaking of testimonies, I want you to watch
this little video clip and see if you remember this person off of the Today Show. Watch
this. VIDEO CLIP
FROM TODAY SHOW WITH JILL SNAPP GWEN:
Here we go. Thank you so much! Thank you, thank you, thank you! And what a background.
Come and sit here in the center. Be our guest, be our guest! And tell us about
your history, because we are talking about suffering today, and I went back and reread
your testimony. How long have you had the weight off now?
JILL SNAPP: I guess it has been about six years now, and
that show was four years ago this month, and I think it had been off a couple of years
then. I am smaller now than I was on that show, so I just praise God for that. I
mean, that was always my story. I could lose a little bit of weight, and since I was
a little girl that was my life, was trying to lose weight. I could lose a little bit
of weight, and then I worked so hard to keep thirty pounds, or whatever, off; and I regained
more than I had. GWEN:
Here are some of your before pictures. Tell us about the pain.
JILL: Oh, you know, physical pain, of course; physical
pain. And everywhere I went I thought people were looking at me, which I mean I was huge!
 GWEN: They probably were.
JILL: I could barely fit in my car. I had to
make a lot of my clothes. I remember having to make a swim suit, because I was going to
take swimming, and they did not have a swim suit in my size. Swimming was going to
save me; I was going to lose weight. I had to make so much, and I was trying everything.
Then I reached the point where nothing worked. I was just meant to be fat, and I even investigated
all of those proofs that once you gained weight you cannot ever lose it and you are going
to be fat for the rest of your life. GWEN:
To comfort yourself, because it is so painful to think that it is something...it is like
a drug to salve the pain a little bit. So anyway, so you were making your own clothes.
I think you made one of the outfits. You were accepting it, so you were sewing to accommodate
a larger size. What was your top weight? JILL:
The top weight that I had on the scale was three hundred and two pounds.
GWEN: And you are not that tall, so for a man it
would be like four hundred pounds. JILL:
I wore a size thirty-two, and now the thirty-twos, I think they have changed the sizing.
 GWEN: It has.
JILL: Even the fat people stores did not carry my size.
I had to go to special fat people stores to buy my clothes.
GWEN: Oh man, the pain, I know, is a killer.
JILL: Also I pursued hobbies to fill... I was
so trying to do something else, and since I decided weight would not work, I was going
to fill my life with hobbies. So that became what I put all my time and money into, just
trying to find something to fill up, to make myself feel better.
GWEN: Yeah. Well, then okay, so then in comes
to the picture Weigh Down, and you decide to pick up cross suffering versus you had
had enough. Like Tedd was saying, you had had enough.
JILL: And I was so excited about this program too.
I mean it was just so different. There was not another paper I had to follow or figure
out, and I could eat real food, and in my whole life I had never eaten real food.
GWEN: How old were you when you started gaining?
JILL: I was a little girl. I was heavy. I
remember in second grade trying to hide my stomach. I thought if I sat like this I
would not look quite so fat. GWEN:
Oh, Jill, that was painful. JILL:
And I was on Weight Watchers. In elementary school I started Weight Watchers, and I was
on that for pretty much my whole growing up years. So I had never eaten regular sour
cream or anything like that, so this was just so new. It was so new! So that was exciting!
 GWEN: And you started losing?
JILL: And I started losing right away. God was
so good. Right away! I remember the first class I lost at least thirty pounds,
and I think more than that just in the first class. And that just changed my life so
much, because God was so quick to give back, and I became so excited.
GWEN: He is; I dont care who they are. The
ways of escape, everybody who has ever taken a class has got to admit that they find their
jewels and their ways of escape right off the bat. So it is not God. I mean I
cannot believe how long-suffering He is and that He is sitting there just waiting to give
you a jewel if you obey. I mean, what kind of God is that!
TEDD ANGER: We never learned what a way of escape was
until I heard you say it, and then I go, Oh, that is why the fly keeps landing on my...
GWEN: Yes! For those who have not taken Weigh
Down Basics, you have got to start there. You cannot start someplace else and go backwards.
You have to start with the Basics, because it all boils down to the ways of escape and
the jewels, and God interacting on the hour-by-hour to help you with the binge. Did the binging
stop? JILL:
It did, and it took me a while to really learn what small is, because I had.... I mean,
the proportions, I thought, were normal, but I thought everybody ate that, and it was so
huge! So it did take a while, and God was very merciful with me in that, and when I
got to take my first class, somebody lost all their weight. The coordinator through
Weigh Down, Regina Smith, and her perspective did really, really show me what I was missing.
That was just phenomenal to have somebody just really look at things from Gods perspective
and show me those basics. And that really got me pushed to keep going. I think that
I was kind of stuttering along. GWEN:
And now you help others. I mean if people wanted to call in and get an accountability
partner, we are assigning you to people... You do not go with people who have halfway
done it, because then you will mess each other up. It is all the way.
JILL: That is definitely true in my case. It
is confusing, where then somebody who has laid it all down it was clear, and that was
really helpful to me. And doing what you said, one thing that helped me so much was
in The Last Exodus, which was the first class I was doing, and Elizabeth gets out her truth
and lies. Do you remember that? I did that, and I wrote it down, and I for a long
time... And I made new ones, but I kept it in my pocket, and I made myself get it
out before I ate, every time get it out and read it every time!
GWEN: I am telling you, to this day I am always
going to God for help on everything, but just praying before I eat, praying for me, the
family, the children and all of us. All these little ones who came on the stage tonight,
teaching them suffering already, the cross suffering so that they do not have to suffer
like that. It just absolutely about kills me; I almost cannot stand it. And what
they are doing at the schools for all these little ones is that they are blaming the food,
and they are making them clean their plate but yet eat low-calorie food. They do not
have salt shakers; they do not have anything that God has made for it to taste right, so
then they are going to eat that and go back and try to find something that tastes....
They are not doing it the right way, and the children are getting larger and larger, and
we just have got to get it right out there, everybody listening, and then let us help
the children, because it just kills me. It is one thing for an adult to be overweight,
and it is horribly painful, but for children it is just awful.
JILL: And I think that was one of the biggest motivators
for me to really stay at it, to go all the way. I reached the point where I was content.
I would have been okay. I am ashamed to say that, but just being normal, but to raise
our children up so they do not have to focus on food. Oh my goodness!
GWEN: So they do not have to have that pain.
JILL: My husband and I are both from families where
weight and food are issues. GWEN:
Idols let us call it was it is. JILL:
Very much, and our children, I praise God, and I am so thankful for Weigh Down, to raise
them up that they do not have to have that. Our son is thirteen, and we just went to the
doctor and did all the checkups, and for them to be normal, I am so grateful for that.
GWEN: Not just normal. I know blessings came
in this past week where your son took a math test where he was scoring past calculus or
something. I mean he is thirteen? JILL:
He is thirteen, and he was beyond their tenth and eleventh grade charts for math and science,
and he is just doing really, really well. He did come from... He had all these diagnoses
when he was six, and just learning to point him to God, and children are so quick to pick
that up, just like you have taught us. GWEN:
That is another whole session on drugs and these children. Do not get me started.
My blood pressure goes up, because it is just a misdiagnosis. Children are children,
and these kids who are obviously really very, very smart; and with it they are just needing
direction and not a label. But anyway, the children are blessed. You can redirect
them; you know what to do. And if they started eating the wrong way, you could go
back in there and redirect them. You have the answer.
JILL: And to not have that and to raise them up
not with food at the center of their existence. I mean God is the center of their existence.
I am just so joyful. GWEN:
It is beautiful. It is absolutely beautiful. So okay, well the session today is on what
keeps you motivated. Tedd, what are you finding from any of the live ones?
I think sometimes it is hard to write in, because everybody is tuned in. I would
rather be tuned in than write in. But at the same time, if anybody is... What kept
you motivated for how many pounds? JILL:
I lost over a hundred seventy pounds now, and it was a lot to lose, and it was scary
at first. GWEN:
How long did it take you? JILL:
I think over all it took a year and a half. I did not keep records all that well...
GWEN: But first of all, something was going where
you were consistently motivated instead of going back and forth, so you must have understood
the message of the cross, embracing the cross. JILL:
I did, and I did learn, just like you said, and this became the biggest thing to me, is
to not lose that favor of God, because when I tasted how good it felt to wake up pure,
especially that waking up, knowing oh, I am going to go weigh today, just being excited
every day versus oh, you know, I do not know if I want to weigh today. I had those experiences
early on, and I was like I really want that good feeling when I wake up. I really want
that. I mean I want to wake up with that joy; and that became such a big motivator
for me, that I wanted that relationship with God. I did, and I stayed in classes.
I took every class. GWEN:
You did. You were faithful. Still, arent we all? Are we not all craving it? It
is like crave the food that does not spoil, but just regular food, you have to go back
to it. If you do not go after...I do not care who you are, you could think you are
Peter himself, you know, the rock or whatever, I mean, it takes me continually, I mean I
am humble about this. I do not count on it. I want that life, so I am going to
go back to the Word, back to the Truthstream, back to all of that. I listen to it.
I never think of these words as my own. I mean I just was born yesterday. I mean
these words are coming from the ancient paths that go way back, so these are Gods words,
Christs words, so I am listening to that; I am listening to the testimonies. I crave
talking to someone like you and Tedd and all these other guests who have been on here,
and hearing what motivates you. So I have to have it, and I am no different than anyone
else. You have got to have it, so you are staying in it.
JILL: We do own everything, at least one copy of
everything that came out of Weigh Down; and there is nothing I have not got, even the
bookmarks, that hasnt changed my life, because everything points me back to God and
brings joy. I want more of it. GWEN: And
the suffering, so embracing the suffering, and that has been the secret to me to staying
with it, because if you embrace the delayed suffering, you do not understand why you cannot
keep going. You do not understand why you mess up. Then you get so frustrated, and
you gain your weight back, and you are just like, I give up, I give up, I give up.
But do you not agree, you both agree, that the secret is the cross? It is Jesus Christ.
And the secret always was. It is a secret wisdom that is foolishness to the world, and
it is our secret that we have found. I know there are a lot of religions out there,
and I have a great deal of respect for the religions that have embraced suffering.
A lot of Christianity is not, so I have lost just praying for all these Christian people
who are calling themselves Christian now who maybe at one time embraced the suffering but
now do not have a grace that teaches them to say no, so they have gained their weight.
But there are a lot of religions out there that are into self-denial, and yet it is still
Jesus, because the purpose has got to be for the Kingdom. It cannot be suffering to
be suffering, to lose weight. That is not going to get it either. I mean it is suffering
that builds up a Kingdom that keeps you motivated. TEDD ANGER:
Totally! You taught us from day one, I mean, who the real Jesus Christ was. That
is what I feel like I did not know who that Jesus was. I was told He did it for us.
Then just go ahead and go to church and do your best. But you told us from day one
to embrace any suffering that comes your way where you are denying yourself to stay inside
the boundaries of God, and look what He will give you back! Look what the replacement
is, you know? And so to hear you sit there and go, No, that is a test. God is testing
your heart. Embrace it and be honored that you are having a chance to walk in the footsteps
of Christ in any form or fashion. Then to see what He gives back, like you said.
He is such an encouraging God. He is such a behavioral modifier. You know, the modification...
GWEN: And so look at the results of the suffering.
I mean if we were not getting results, look at you, how upright and noble Jill and your
family and your children and what they are doing, and it is like here we go down this
path again increasing pleasure. We have ever so much more character. We are
going from one glory to another. So I praise God for all that.
TEDD ANGER: You are going to see recurring themes on the
comments, and I love this from Jenny Z. I know we all relate to this. The thing
that keeps me motivated more than anything else is knowing that eating outside of Gods
boundaries is a sin, and I do not want to sin. I want to do the will of God.
GWEN: There it is, that motivation of pleasing God.
TEDD ANGER: Yes, motivated like in... What keeps
me motivated in sports, this person is saying they are doing things such as Truthstream,
the Word, WDWB, surrounding yourself with brothers and sisters in Christ. When you
fail, pick yourself up and try harder. Never take your eye off the ball. Let me
see, Chris from southern Illinois: After losing fifty-four pounds five years ago, staying
motivated by using all the resources, like Truthstream, participating or coordinating
a class, fellowship with others who have their focus set on God Almighty and just the fear
of getting outside of that. Gods Word, WDWB, Remnant Fellowship, the sermons...
Truthstream is in almost every single one of them, I will tell you that.
GWEN: So what is in that stuff that is motivating
people? So if you are going to that message, what is in that message? That is what you
have got to go in there and see for yourself, because it is anointed. The class is anointed.
I mean, like you said, you did not take a class. You lost ten pounds, but you gained
twelve back, then some. TEDD ANGER:
Gained twelve back, right. GWEN:
If God has said, I am going to bless this, and He has, then it is His, and who are we
to fight that? So the classes, all of it together, keeps us motivated. So do you
have any final words, Jill? JILL:
I definitely stayed with the classes again and again, and I am one of those people who
does need to watch movies a second time. But I was watching Change, and I counted up
I did Change seventeen times! And I was watching it the last time, and I was like,
I have never heard that before. I mean just that particular point that stirred
me in my heart. GWEN:
So it lets you know... JILL:
Every time it is new. Every time I get new food from it, new spiritual food. And
I am just in awe that that can be, that class all of the classes can generate so
much change every single time. GWEN:
Look at you! You are so changed! Tedd, you are so changed.
 TEDD ANGER: Praise God, yes!
GWEN: I am so changed, and now you are so blessed.
You are so blessed. I am so blessed. There are obviously two paths out there.
There are two choices. There is the delayed suffering, or there is the embraced suffering.
So I want you to keep writing in about what motivates you, but I want you to savor what
I am talking about today. And I want you to remember that theme verse that we have
had almost every week. To me it is the verse that completely just punches a hole
in the theory that we are not supposed to lay down sin or that we cannot lay down sin.
But we definitely can, and Peter talked about it. He said in chapter 4 verse 1 that, Therefore, since
Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who
has suffered in his body is done with sin. I am going to say embrace suffering.
He who has embraced the suffering you just faced it is done with sin.
And verse 2: As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil
human desires, but rather for the will of God. And then Peter goes on to say...
I love I Peter. Oh my word! Every chapter over and over; in my suffering I read it all
the time. I recommend it over and over. But he says
there toward the end in chapter 5 verse 10, he says, And the God of all grace, who
called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will
himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. Strong, firm and steadfast
I would say these three here, these precious people who came today, are strong, firm and
steadfast and restored. He will himself restore you. God himself will restore
you! I have been restored, and you have seen some of the results of how God has come
back in and refreshed me and restored me, and I cannot say enough about it. It is
a beautiful way to go. So everyone out there, I want to say until next week, I want
to make sure that you choose the suffering, you embrace it. Do not delay it. Embrace
it, and you will stay motivated to the end. And guess what? You too will overcome!
Praise God! Praise God for coming today! Praise God for being here. It is beautiful,
beautiful, beautiful! Thank you so much!
