Recently, I've had the opportunity to travel all across the State of Tennessee to present
CDBG grants (Community Development Block Grants). You know, we're sometimes, for good reasons
*** Washington and the processes they've put in place. This is one they got right,
because they let local communities apply for the money, and then states, which I think
have a better feel for real needs then Washington does, we get to decide where those grants
are fulfilled. These grants typically are going for much needed infrastructure projects.
Water and sewer, our local park systems, other things that help maintain the vitality of
that community that maybe that community can't afford to do right then. These quality of
life projects also help with the economic development of our communities. So it's
an honor for me to get to do this. One of the privileges is seeing the ways that communities
work so hard to make their hometown a great place for people to live.
