\f1\b0 \uc0舲 舲 舲 \f0 Yellowstone National Park\'92s most famous
wolf was shot and killed by hunters just outside the park\'92s boundaries Thursday. The New
York Times reports\'97 \f1 \uc0舲 舲 舲
\f0\b \'93She was the alpha female of the park\'92s Lamar Canyon pack ... Wildlife watchers
referred to her as a \'91rock star.\'92 The animal had been a tourist favorite for most
of the past six years. The wolf was fitted with a $4,000 collar with GPS tracking technology\'85
Based on data from the wolf\'92s collar, researchers knew that her pack rarely ventured outside
the park\'85\'94 \b0 \
\f1 \uc0舲 \f0 She was referred to as
\b \'93the most famous wolf in the world\'94 \b0 and a portrait of her can be found in
the current issues of the magazine American Scientist.
\f1 \uc0舲 舲 舲 \f0 Known as 832F by researchers, she was
the 8th wolf to be shot while being tracked this year. The wolves of Yellowstone are among
the parks most travelled-to sites. {\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://www.nbcmontana.com/ktvm"}}{\fldrslt
\cf3 \ul \ulc3 KTVM reports}} officials at the park fear if something is not done, it
could hurt tourism.\
\f1 \uc0舲 \f0\b \'93It\'92s going to have an impact
on tourism because people aren\'92t going to come to the park if they can\'92t locate
wolves and watch wolves.\'a0And the saddest part is it could have been avoided.\'94
\f1\b0 \uc0舲 舲 舲 \f0 Because the wolves were hunted outside
of park boundaries, it isn\'92t technically illegal. But the death of 832F is not being
taken lightly by animal activists \'97 who have filed a lawsuit challenging Wyoming\'92s
wolf management program. \f1 \uc0舲 舲 舲
\f0\b \'93The groups want the court to reinstate federal protecting for wolf protection for
wolves in Wyoming. \f1 \uc0舲
\f0 In the state of Wyoming wolves are considered a predatory species and can be shot and killed
on site, except near Yellowstone National Park.\'94
\f1\b0 \uc0舲 舲 舲 \f0 The governor of Wyoming claims the state\'92s
management plan is adequate for maintaining a minimum number of wolves.
