There's no doubt about it. Michigan is the Comeback State. We've faced the issues. We've
made the tough choices, and now, Michigan is leading the nation in economic recovery
after the Great Recession. Our people are going back to work. More than 220,000 new
private sector jobs have been created since December 2010. And Michigan is once again
number one in manufacturing job growth. Those are good paying jobs- jobs that we can be
proud of. In fact, Michigan's per capita personal income growth rate is tied for first among
Great Lakes States, and we're sixth in the nation for increasing home prices. And now
Michigan is seeing its first consecutive years of population growth since 2003 and 2004.
But there's more work to do. And that means Michigan solutions for Michigan challenges.
We will give entrepreneurs and small businesses a boost with micro-loans and help local businesses
grow. We'll keep balancing our budget, cut taxes for Michigan families, protect teacher
pensions. We can make our economy grow even stronger by welcoming immigrants who want
to be part of our state, build a future here, and create new jobs. We will keep investing
in education and give parents an opportunity to enroll their kids in early learning. We'll
continue making sure our schools are safe, and we will pass innovative reforms like year
round schools, ensure teacher effectiveness, and make Michigan a leader in teaching science,
technology, engineering, and math. We will help protect seniors from elder abuse, eliminate
waiting lists for in-home meals and services, improve long term care. We will make sure
that those living with mental illness have access to the care they need. And when it
comes to our environment, we'll keep working to preserve and protect it. Together, we're
making things happen. More and better jobs are coming to Michigan, and we're building
a brighter future for our kids. We're Reinventing Michigan. Our Comeback Continues.
