Good Morning Candy Man As you can see girls today's out grand opening,
and our first day of candy school. So that means we have lots of work to do today.
What's our first lesson Candyman? Today we will start with the brief history
of Chocolate. Oohh! I Iove Chocolate.
Me too! Too much chocolate hurts my tummy.
Well your not supposed to eat too much chocolate, Bubble Gum.
Everything should be in moderation. What's moderation?
Glad you asked Jelly Bean. Moderation means a little of this and a little
of that not too much of any one thing. Oh, I get it, moderation means a little bit
at a time. Exactly instead of 2 or 3 chocolates you have
1. So if I eat a little bit of chocolate my tummy
won't hurt? Exactly!
And now for a brief lesson on the "History of Chocolate"
Between the years of 1500 B.C. and 400 B.C. it was believed that the Olmec Indians were
the first to grow the cocoa bean as a domestic crop.
Yes, Jelly Bean. What are Olmec Indians?
The Olmec Indians are one of the first civilizations to inhabit Meso-America.
Another question Jelly Bean? What's Meso-America?
Let me show you, This is Meso- America. Now...Yes Taffy.
Candy Man is that you in the picture with the Olmec Indians?
Looks like me but no that's not me. Is that the Mayan's?
Good observation, it was believed that the Mayans planted the first cocoa plantations
in 600 A.D. Candy Man the army man in that picture looks
like you too! Chocolate was actually used in World War II
in the military field rations. But no that's not me.
Hey I recognize him that's Irish chocolate maker John Hanan. But who's that with him?
Why that's Dr James Baker. They were the first to mass produce chocolate in the United States.
Why chocolate been with my family for as long as I can remember.
And it was here when English Chocolate maker J.S. Fry and Sons found a way to mix and mold
the chocolate to make the modern day chocolate bar as we know today.
What's so important about that Candy Man? Well as the very first chocolate bars were
being made they were the wrong size. Too small?
No just the opposite. Too Big? That's right! How big Candy Man?
This Big!!!! Wow that's huge! At that time my great, great, great , great,
great uncle Earnest was walking by and the candy maker didn't want to just throw them
away.... so he kept one and gave the other one to my uncle.
Wow! Since that time the Candy Bar has been passed
down from generation to generation, and here we are now in my Candy Bar
