Hi. I'm Debra Rubin-Roberts, and I'm the founder of Mommy Makeup. After
being a makeup artist for 20 plus years, one of the biggest challenges I
find for women to have is they do not choose the correct shade of
concealer. Too often women choose a shade that is too light for them. You
do not want to choose a shade that is too light. You want to choose a shade
like this one that is within your own depth of skin tone. It's very
important.
Imagine wearing a black bra under a white blouse. What happens? The black
bra shows through. If you had on that black bra and you put a beige blouse
over it, the bra would not show through as much. The same thing applies for
your concealer. If you have a dark circle here and you put too pale a
concealer, the darkness is going to show through and give you kind of this
gray, ashy look. That's what you don't want. If you conceal within your own
depth of skin tone, it will camouflage the dark area rather than bringing
it more pronounced or having that darkness show through. So always, when
choosing a concealer, choose it within your own depth of skin tone. Do not
go lighter.
