Hey everyone, its Bob Thomas from Snoringmouthpieceguide.com. Today we're going to review the Ripsnore anti-snoring
mouthpiece.
When you purchase this online you are actually going to receive the device in a padded envelope
such as that one. Inside your'e going to find the actual device along with some information.
This is what the product packaging looks like. Lets open it up here and see whats inside.
Inside you are going to notice that you get not one but two devices and you also get this
handy storage case. Inside the storage case is actually the second device which is stored
for shipping.
Lets take a look at one of these mouthpieces. First thing that you notice is the front of
it has this spacer which is used to retain the shape of the air holes whenever it is
actually formed. Normally, you would leave this in here but I am going to take it out
so that you can get an idea of what the air holes look like before molding. As you can
see there are two air holes and there is a spacer down the middle (divider).
This is what the product actually looks like.
So I'm going to go ahead and put this spacer back in and read over these instructions here
and then get back with you and we are going to start the molding process.
Okay guys I'm back here and I have everything that I need to create the mold which basically
all you need some ice water, some boiling hot water, your mouthpiece, a pair of tongs
and also I have my phone over here which I will be using as a stopwatch.
So the first thing that you will want to do is actually grab the device but actually before
you do that you will want to practice by putting it in your mouth and getting a feel for exactly
how far you need to advance your jaw whenever you do this.
But after a little practice what you want to do is take the mouthpiece, grab the tongs
actually grab it by the spacer here. You want to drop it in the water for 30 seconds.
30 seconds is up and I am going to pull it out here. Its best to pull it out by the tab
but I grabbed it any way that I could. We are going to let it cool for just a second.
You want to kinda touch it to your skin just to make sure its cool enough and that is.
I am going to insert it into my mouth with the curved piece up here. I'm going to hold
it there for 30 seconds.
One thing that failed to mention is that while I was doing this I was actually sucking the
air out as I was going. I'm going to go ahead and drop it in the ice. You want to leave
it in the ice water for 60 seconds and that helps it to retain the shape.
As you can see this took a pretty good impression of my teeth. Something else that is important
and you want to remember is that when you are actually doing this, you want to have
your jaw pulled slightly forward because that's how these devices work. Its called an mandibular
advancement device because it actually holds your jaw forward while you are sleeping in
order to prevent snoring. That's the principal behind how it works.
This is what it looks like after it's done. We are going to take out the plastic retainer.
I had to give it a little turn there to break it loose. Let's take it out. This is what
it looks like after the molding. You can see that the holes are still wide open. Lets put
it in here and see what the fit is like.
It fits very closely to the inside of my mouth. It actually holds the jaw forward as indicated
in the instructions.
That's pretty much it. I'm going to go ahead and use this tonight and for the next week
or two and report back to let you know how it worked.
Hey everyone its Bob and I am back after trying the Ripsnore out for one night. I'm happy
to report that it actually stopped my snoring, that's the good news. On the other hand the
bad news is that it took me a little while to fall asleep with the device in my mouth.
I guess I'm just not use to it.
Also this morning I woke up and my jaw was kind of aching which they say is to be expected
with any type of device such as this one. Overall, so far it has been effective. Like
I said, I only used it for one night. I'm going to give it a try here for a few more
nights and then report back and let you know how it went.
It's been 10 days and I am here to report the results of the Ripsnore. As I mentioned
the first few days, it was kinda difficult getting use to wearing this device but after
about 3 days or so it became more comfortable and easier to wear.
Ads far as effectiveness, my snoring completely stopped during the 10 day trial from day one
all the way up to last night. I had no issues snoring so it is in fact effective. No problems
there. As advertised it stops your snoring.
As far as comfort, its a little lacking on the comfort. If you look at the thickness
here its a bit on the thick side. That interferes with comfort a little bit but its still bearable
as far as being able to wear it. But there are lower profile devices available.
It does have these rather large breather holes in the front, so that was definitely a plus
for me since I tend to breathe through my mouth at night.
So overall, for comfort I would give it a 6 or 7 out of 10. Like I said, there are more
comfortable devices available. This one is still bearable although it is a bit on the
bulky side.
As far as price its a pretty good value. Per unit, I think its somewhere around $30 or
$35, so that's a pretty good value considering that some of these devices cost upwards to
$100 a piece.
Overall, I had a pretty good impression of the Ripsnore. It provides an effective solution
that's fairly comfortable at a reasonable price.
That my review and thanks for watching.
