> The goal of the Lucky Day Foundation is to provide scholarship opportunities to worthy
young Mississippi residents to attend a four-year university.
>> The best part about Lucky Day in my opinion is just that it's just like a family over
there. You know, you go to the building, you look on the outside, it's like a beautiful
building. But behind it is like where the magic all happens. You see everybody you know.
Like everybody's faces while you're there. They know you personally.
>> With Lucky Day, you immediately have a family. You immediately have a group of people
that are there to support you, whether that's peers that are going through the same thing
that you meet, you know, a week before school. Or the faculty and staff that are there to
help you. You know, and the mentoring aspect. The study hall aspect or a lot of things that
gave me a distinct advantage over the normal student.
>> I mean coming to a college from high school, it's a big transition. And so, just having
someone to go to and talk about anything at all, however irrelevant, however small, just
to go and talk to them about it. You feel a sense of security about it. And that's what
they provide.
>> Lucky Day promotes and develops leaders. Without Lucky Day we wouldn't have that model
to follow, to look up to, because most freshman come into the university and they're lost,
they don't have a support system like Lucky Day. And I feel like Lucky Day with that support
system and with that guidance they provide, they promote and develop leaders.
>> The outcome that Lucky Day wants to achieve is in its name. And it's the Lucky Day Success
Program. And that's what the staff did for me. They insured that I was successful at
the university. They provided me with the resources and mentoring networks and the tools
that I needed so that I could achieve academically and also in the university community and surrounding
communities.
