>>YAN HUANG: What is a Gravatar?
A Gravatar is...if you ever have gone on a blog or a news website,
the people that have made comments on the bottom,
to the right of those, you probably noticed
...or maybe not...that some of them have little icons,
either a picture of them, or their company logo, or just some random picture.
Well, how do you upload a picture there?
Because if you noticed, usually there’s a name, email, website, and a field for a
description.
But there’s no upload profile, image, or Gravatar field there.
The way you actually do it is, it’s actually not on their blog or website at all.
You would go to gravatar.com, sign up with them.
Typically, a signup’s just you entering your email, create a password, and then
you upload the picture there.
Next time, when you go onto a blog that you like and you post a comment, all you have
to do
is just include your email address.
It’ll automatically link that towards your Gravatar profile account, and
it’ll pull the picture automatically.
The reason why you will want a Gravatar image is because if you’re active on blogs
that’s relevant to your industry or what you’re doing, or maybe even a hobby,
it just allows for another level of being personal with the viewers of that blog.
Maybe they may contact you to collaborate or
may be potential prospects or leads for your business.
So it’s great if you want to network with people virtually, because people have contacted
me
through them seeing my picture on the Gravatar before.
I think it’s definitely a powerful lead-generation tool,
as well as a powerful networking tool, if used properly.
