NARRATOR: Before the incident I thought it was cool to carry a knife
but it really isn't..
like and I learnt the hard way
and a lot of people do learn the hard way.
MUSIC (acoustic)
Had an incidence in my 20's where it kind of made me
wanna change my life, get into..
well just get a proper job.
Crack on with life.
Get some money, whatever.
Kind of saw the bigger picture then.
Its so easy to just go and stick your hand in your mums kitchen draw
grab a knife MUSIC (drums added)
and there you go you've got a knife
but thats the worst case about it.
When I was younger
basically everyone round me carried a knife
why the hell shouldn't I have one.
MUSIC (becomes more energetic)
I didn't expect to ever use it and I just kind of felt a bit safer
if I was, say like walking home at night.
I just felt more at ease and just..
you know what I mean like..
you didn't worry about like..
well you did worry about if you were gunna get jacked or not but
you felt more confident that you'll get away with your stuff.
But my incident
I had to use it because I was in the wrong situation at the wrong time.
(car horn)
I think that something capable of taking a life
shouldn't be in the hands of anyone
nevermind the pocket of a teenage boy.
I wouldn't have gone into that fight if I didn't have a knife.
(deep breathing)
(police sirens)
