I will be beginning the brief for the State of the Union.
This is the one time of year when both houses of Congress, the Executive Branch and the
Supreme Court are all in the same location. There is no credible specific threat against
the State of theUnion Address, however we all know that D.C. is a prime target at all
times. We have a task order request from the Office
of the Attending Physician and Capitol Police Board to support this event.

ASPR has a mission responding to disastersÉ but not only to disasters but also to support
National Security Special Events such as the 2012 State of the Union Address.
The IRCT is here for the State of the Union. We're also here if something should go wrong
during the State of the Union. We're the public health and medical insurance. We've identified
resources to being in if something goes wrong.

The NCR NMRT Team is a team consisting of folks from Maryland-1 and Virginia-1 DMAT.
Many of our logistics folks are medical providers and so it's important for us to have as many
people cross-trained in as many roles as possible and everyone to recognize they may be called
on to assist in whatever task needs to be done.

What we hoped to accomplish was to get everyone on the same sheet of music in terms of understanding
what the expectations are, understanding what the scope of care is for the mission, and
go over some of the scenarios for the type of care they might be expected to deliver
tonight.

These are the radios for the strike teams. The team lead will be out to pick them up
just after their briefing.
Representatives from the Office of the Attending Physician will come down and pick them up
and escort them up to their locations.

Every time I watch the SOC get really busy - whether it's for something like this or
a different kind of event -- it's just so impressive to see what a well oiled machine
this is; how committed all of you are, how committed everyone who works here is to what
our mission is; to protect the American people, to save lives and to do the best job we can
do every day.
And the state of our Union will always be strong. Thank you, God bless you, and God
Bless the United States of America. [Applause]
