Now that you've got your new tattoo, it's time to treat it gently like a fine piece
of art deserves. I'm Jackie with How to Care for a Tattoo. Allowing the skin under the
tattoo to heal properly can help your tattoo look great for years to come. Keep the bandage
on the tattoo for at least two hours after the work is completed, or longer if directed
by the artist. Remove the bandage very carefully and throw it away. Don't re-bandage the tattoo.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and then lightly wash the tattoo. Gently pat dry with
a soft cloth, and whatever you do don't rub it. Dab an over the counter antibiotic ointment
on the clean tattoo, but don't use any product that contains Zinc, it can affect the colors.
Apply the antibiotic ointment for the next few days, then switch to a natural moisturizer
with no artificial ingredients, and definitely no alcohol. Coconut oil is nature's pure natural
skin softener. Avoid direct sun exposure on your tattoo. Remember, to care for a new tattoo,
gently cleanse it with mild soap, pat dry, apply antibiotic ointment for the first few
days, then keep it moisturized with lotion or coconut oil. Avoid direct sun exposure.
Some experts also advise no swimming or baths for a few weeks. Showers are okay, thank goodness.
I'm Jackie, with How to Care for a Tattoo. Looks pretty.
