TIM STANLEY: I can't remember when I first met Anick.
ANICK LAROSE: I've worked at the Faculty for 25 years. It's my 26th year. 2 00:00:13:,000 --> 00:00:16,000 I started at the University in the Faculty of Education, and I've stayed here.
My work is varied and changes quite often. Since I've been here,
job restructuring has happened fairly regularly—every two years, every four years.
My job always gets updated, so there's always something new.
I think she was already here when I started in the Faculty.
When I became director of graduate studies in 2001,
she was one of the two people in the academic secretariat responsible for graduate students.
JOANNE CHARTRAND: As someone very modest, Anick has trouble naming her own strengths.
So we got together and came up with some for her.
ROXANNE LACELLE: Anick, you are gentle and you bring people together.
JOHANNE LEBLANC: Anick is loyal.
JOANNE CHARTRAND: Helpful.
JOANNE LEBLANC: With great team spirit.
MARIE BEAULIEU: Anick is someone who is professional and organized.
JOANNE CHARTRAND: Conscientious.
MADELEINE FORTIER: Hello Anick! You are so beautiful and radiant. 19 00:01:18,000 --> 00:01:24:00 REINE-MARIE TREMBLAY: Hello Anick. I couldn't go without leaving you a little message to congratulate you on your award.
They offered it to me, but I turned it down because I knew I'd already be in Northern Quebec.
In any case, I worked side by side with you long enough to say that you treat your students kindly and professionally.
ANICK LAROSE: Why did I receive this award? That's a pretty tough question.
I don't see myself as having what you would call extraordinary qualities at work.
I do my job because I like doing my job.
I do it my own way, so I would say I do it well.
I guess there are others who also think I've done a good job. Customer service is very important to me.
I don't have to force myself to do it—it's in me, so it comes naturally.
in a 3-day period, making sure that each one was in the right program, with all the different options
TIM STANLEY: She's the only person I've ever met who could register over 400 students by hand,
and requirements of the degree being respected.
SARA JIRARI: Hello Anick! In your honour, we've dedicated this poem to you:
MANON ÉTHIER: A: Able to persuade others, you turn problems into simple tasks.
FRANCINE FORGUES: N: Nothing is impossible for someone as intelligent as you.
CAROL-ANN KELLY: I: Included in your first name, beauty is a part of who you are.
SARA JIRARI: C: Capable of making any decision and handling any situation!
K: Kilo by kilo, your accomplishments keep piling up, and you barely notice!
TIM STANLEY:So the only thing I really want to say at the end, I think Anik really deserves this award.
I've long thought that she should be honored in this way.
ANICK LAROSE: But really, I've always had amazing supervisors, so that has helped.
My colleagues, too— excellent. Looking elsewhere—I've considered it,
but for me the work environment is very important, so that's pretty much why I've stayed.
Congratulations. We love you!
