Hey guys Photoshop Pro Help here and in today's tutorial I'm going to be showing you how to enhance your lips
in portraits, so as you can see this is the original
image and she has quite a bit color in her lips right now
but we really want to bring them out, draw them out and make them more lustrous
and just make a feature of them
so I'm just going to apply the effect just so you can see what it looks like
so here is the effect right here, it's dramatic colour and really brings them out
made them a lot more lustrous and it really does stand out in the picture
now don't worry too much if you think this is
way to much for this picture because you can tone it down easily
so this effect right here
is very simple and is very quick and
all we're going to do is jump over to this one the original image
and what we are going to do from here is select
the lips so make a general selection around the lips area
so we are just going to zoom in now, now i will suggest using the pen tool cause
you can really get
all the fine details and everything selected now if you don't know how to use
the pen tool I will say go and jump over to the other video
and it will show you all the other selection techniques that you do need to learn
so we are just going to click around
the lips paying very close attention
to get every thing in and you can
click and hold and drag out and that creates a
smoother finish but that is more professionally done
and if you don't know how to use that then go over to the selection tutorial
cause you will need to learn it, so I'm just going to go
quickly do this cause this is a quick tutorial and
once you have gone all the way round, I don't need to cause I already have my selection
so once you have already gone all the way round and got to the other side
we are just going to right click
click MAKE SELECTION and we are going to feather the radius by 3 pixels
and then we are going to click ok, I'm not going to do that cause I've already done mine
so I am going to take mine off and make my slection
there we go so we have the marching ants
as they're called around the mouth
and that has made a pretty nice selection, so from here we are just going to go
and make a new blank layer, bottom right hand side the new blank layer icon click that
and we are going to go and fill this with black now
so we want to make sure that we have black as our foreground colour
and we are just going to press some stuff on the keyboard, so
we're going to go and click ALT + DEL
or OPTION + DEL if you have a mac and as you can see it has filled it with black
so all we are going to do now is go up to our blending option and we are going to
go down to SOFT LIGHT
now as you can see it has changed it
the way its brought it out and dramatic colour, as I said
don't worry too much cause it is quite standoffish for this picture
so we are going to bring this down
to bring the opacity down and
you can really have anything you want just to suit your picture
cause every picture and every portrait is totally different
so I'm going to go for around about 82%
that should be just fine and we are just going to go
and zoom out and as you can see
that's exactly what we want now if you want to make the lips
more glossy in feel
that can easily be done if you want them left as
a matt colour, a matt finish then just leave them
don't bother with this technique I'm going to show you how to make them glossy now
so we're just going to go to the left hand side and we're going to go to the dodge tool
that might be hiding
underneath the burn or the smudge tool
sorry sponge tool and we are just going to click and hold and a little menu will pop out
and go and click the doge tool and we want to make sure we have a
fine brush a fairly soft brush for this and you can put the size
any where you want depending on the size of your picture
and we want to make sure the range is mid tones
and the exposure is 10 percent because we don't want too much
we're just going to zoom in and we want to make sure that we are working
with the original image so the bottom layer
is what we want to be working with, now you can
easily duplicate that layer and if it does go
wrong then you can just revert back to the other layer but I'm not going to be doing that
so if you do want to duplicate the layer
CTRL + J or CMD + J on your keyboard if you have a mac
so we are going to go and gloss the lips up so we are going to
gently click over them
and as you can see it is brightening the lips up and making them more glossy
in feel and look, so
just going to go over here
and over there and then CTRL + D or CMD + D on your keyboard
if you have a Mac to deselect and then scroll out
and as you can see it is a lot more glossy and
exactly what we wanted so i am just going to show you what it looked like originally
there you go and with the effect on, off
and on and it has really brought the lips out and it has made
a lovely feature to the portrait, now
this affect you can apply to loads of different
images so I'm going to show you a few, so if i jump over to
this image right here now this is with the effect
on and I'm going to show you with the effect off, so this is
with the effect off now and as you can see there not that great
the lips hasn't been brought out at all, you cant really notice them
and then when we put the effect on they have got a lot more definition and
a lot more shadows to them and it really does make the picture a
lot better so if we go to the other image now, this is with the effect
off and I'm going to show you with the effect on, so
that's on and off and on
and as i said great thing for the
picture and you'll have a lot of fun with this and you can apply a
lot more effect to this so go and play around with this and
tell me what you think, please comment, rate and subscribe if you need any help
just contact me and I'll be happy to help
so apart from that guys, go and have a lot of fun with this
and I'll see in the next tutorial guys, bye for now
