If you are considering a breast enlargement procedure, what questions should you ask your
surgeon? Now this is really, really important. So, a number of questions you should ask.
Basic questions for any surgical procedure are, how long have you been doing the procedure?
How many you do? What's your satisfaction record, can I see any data on this? You do
need to see before and after photos.
So you need to feel comfortable that your surgeon is experienced at breast enlargement
procedures, they perform enough of them, and they show you enough before and afters, patient
testimonials, that you're confident with them.
It's also quite good sometimes to ask to speak to a patient, a real-life patient, who has
had a breast enlargement procedure with your surgeon so you can get a good idea of what
is involved, and how they are treated after the operation.
Other questions to ask are, what implants they would recommend? Why they would use those
particular implants? Would they recommend in front or behind of the muscle? Where would
the incision be? Can you see pictures of the incision, and also the recovery period. It's
also good just to check their qualifications, so are they on the specialists register of
the General Medical Council for plastic surgery? That's the GMC, go to the GMC website, you
can check that out.
Are they a member of the big organisations that regulate plastic surgeons, which are
BAPRAS and BAAPS, both have got websites, and you can go and check on there to check
your surgeon is listed. So overall, do your research first. If you do know someone who
has had a good experience with a surgeon, that's a great recommendation. If you don't
know that, maybe see a couple of surgeons, see which ones you're comfortable with, and
then go with them.
