Hopes Die Last with us tonight
just outside the Traffic club, you're already quite notorious here in Italy in the metalcore scene...
Yeah, let's just say that we've kept ourselves busy
It's already been a bunch of years that we've kept this going and it seems that the public enjoys it...
So, this makes us happy...
Yeah, I've seen that you toured outside of the country
Sure, since the very beginning we had the chance...
We've been touring around the world for a couple of years now
Was there a particular stage, where the crowd was wild?
Let's just say that Rock music unites every soul, so every crowd has more or less the same response
And I really dig that...
Even so, I think our love for Japan is quite obvious
and confessed on our web page so...
But still, we want to thank all of our fans everywhere in the world
that make it all possible for us.
Tonight we're at the release party for "Wolfpack"
But I would like to talk about your previous album for a minute...
"Trust No One"
How come it's called " Trust No One", when your name is actually Hopes Die Last?
How do you explain that?
That's a good question, I bet you didn't sleep last night to come up with that!
Essentially all of our titles, except the last ones all come from...
...If you paid attention, up too now, very often they we're 3 word titles
because our guitar player,Marco Mantovani, has a fix on that 3 word trip
You just burned down of my questions, because I had written down :
almost every title of your albums, as well as the band name, are made out of 3 words...
Are you superstitious, or is it just a coincidence?
No it's a full on sickness - A paranoia
The other thing about "Trust No One" that I noticed is that
it was released on Valentine's day last year, was it a message to someone...or?
No, that was a commercial move from our last label
to earn more money, we didn't agree on it...
They chose that day because they could advertise about...
Cause it worked with the title...
No just because "you could buy for your girlfriend..."
I't was strictly commercial... -It's funny because it's "trust no one"
Yeah right!
But that's over, we changed our game... - Well yeah, Wolfpack...
Who writes the lyrics?
That would be me and Marco, the guitar player.
What preview can you give us about Wolfpack?
Well as some of you may have noticed, there's a video out
A couple of them actually, a lyrics video and an official video
It will come out on June 25th along with our cover song
So we hope you guys will check that out
as you already have for our last videos.
Yeah, I heard "Hellbound", but I especially like "Cheaters Must Die"
-Thanks! - We didn't know whether to shoot a video for that one or for Wolfpack, sorry, "Hellbound"!
But just...the rhythm... from "Cheaters Must Die", when I hear it...
I just head *** all over the place, like...
-That was the desired effect... -Yeah, that was what we were trying to communicate !
A heavier look on things and our style...
Actually yeah, you guys went brutal since...
Totally..
...totally yeah...
Since the first record...I don't know...
But personally I hear a hint of Thrice and Gojira in your music...
Let's just say that we have a heavier sound...
But we still have really melodic parts, so we have this fusion...
Between melodic parts, kind of our signature...
In some ways, I guess we do have ambient parts that can remind you of Thrice...
But it's not at all premeditated, if you listen to our old records, we've kept that from some of our older work.
If it does remind you of thrice, why not, but it's not of our design, it's much like the old stuff with a beefier sound.
Exactly, what I dig is the mixture between harmony and ***...That's what makes your music awesome to me...
So for us that's the way it is, this EP is coming out one year after Trust No One, cause we started working...
Right after the promotion for the album was finished
It's al about passion, so let's say inspiration is just around the corner...
Yeah we can definitely hear that work when listening to your music, you're talented musicians...
Personally I think the metalcore scene, or at least, the metal European scene has nothing to covet from the American one
Not at all, in my opinion, the European bands
For my personal taste, I dig more the European, British bands instead of the American ones honestly...
In my opinion, so I don't want American bands to hold any grudge, it's just that I prefer European bands
Yeah it's really expanding over here...
We're happy we got to have a chat with you, I'm anxious to see you play and kick *** on stage...
Right on, that's what we're here for.
Where can we find ourselves a copy of Wolfpack?
We're selling it at the stand tonight, or right out of our merch store, online.
It's the only place you'll find it cause we're not with a label anymore cause they really pissed us off...
So now we decided to be completely independent...
So we call out to our fans and ask them to support us like never before!
Because at last, all of the funds will go straight into keeping the band going, and not into someone else's pocket...
This EP is really important for us.
We summon all the fans! Go and see Hopes Die Last, and speaking of which, do you have projects for this summer?
- A couple of concerts maybe... - We have a festival in Austria in September and...
We're looking into organising a little tour in July.
But summertime in general is more mellow, in September we start everything again.
- Alright! We hope to see you again as soon as possible - You will.
