I got you!
Now I can put you in lye.
Then I will soak you in water.
Then I can eat you on Christmas Eve.
Follow me these 24 days and I will tell you some stories.
Welcome!
One beautiful autumn Saturday morning me and Leif were hunting hare.
We went to the more and released the dog.
We tracked 2 hares and shot one each.
On Autumn days like that you can't go home mid day.
We wanted to enjoy it as long as possible.
One of us thought that the huge mallards with their dark green heads
had perhaps come down from the mountains.
We went to the outer meadows to take a look.
We drove for a while, stopped the car and walked along the more down to the river.
We could hear them splashing and making noise.
We decided to sneak up on them, step by step.
As we got close a stream was in the way.
We whispered "We have to try" and decided it didn't matter if we got wet.
I was on the right side, him on the left. We went in the water and got soaked.
As we reached the crest we had decided that I would aim to the right
and he to the left side.
As we got out of the water 20-30 mallards took off.
4 shots went off.
Sometimes a pellet or two can veer off.
4 mallards fell down dead but a 5:th had been hit and injured.
It swam to the south side and bit onto a willow twig.
I told Leif, "If you land those mallards with a stick"
"I'll swim over and get the 5:th."
I stripped and swam the river, about 20 meters.
I grabbed the mallard and swam back.
I think I'm sensitive because my body was shutting down.
A willow twig stuck out so I grabbed it and pulled myself onto land.
I had put my shotgun by a pine tree.
I heard flapping wings and grabbed the gun. There I was naked, firing 2 shots.
Of course I missed, I was probably totally frosen.
It wasn't as icy as now but not far off.
The weekend after this whole river was covered in ice. So the water was not warm.
That's an experience I'll never forget.
I don't think Leif will either.
