My name is Abby Jones and I'm talking about things that can make the process of moving
into your new apartment easy and efficient. And, right now we're talking about placing
furniture, and specifically placing furniture in your living room. So, one piece of furniture
that a lot of people have is a coffee table or some kind of table that you put in the
center of your living space, that's a typical place to put coffee tables. This is my coffee
table, or the top of it anyway, and it's just a piece of wood that I found at a junk shop,
and believe it or not, and painstakingly waxed. And, I just put it on top of some concrete
blocks. If you choose to make a coffee table out of certain materials like that, coffee
tables tend to be about twelve to eighteen inches high, so that's something that you
can think about as you're building your coffee table. As I place the coffee table, I'm going
to be putting it in front of my couch, which is a pretty typical place to put it. And,
something that I'll think about when I'm placing it is having enough knee room when I'm sitting
in my couch, and space to walk between my couch and the table. So, that's usually you
know, about a foot and a half, to two feet, obviously depending on if it's high traffic
area, or how much space you like or need. And, I'm also going to be thinking about in
this particular space the flow between my kitchen and my bathroom area, and what's going
to create the best, the easiest area for me to get through and you know, around my coffee
table. So, you also want to look at it in the greater context of your house and your
space and what makes the most sense for your space.
