Hi, I'm Leslie Ann Bestor
and i'm going to talk to you today about gift ideas
for the weaker in your life
we'll start with some books
and one of my favorite sort of
reference books which is great if you have a new weaver
on your list is the Weaver's Companion. This is put out by Interweave Press
and it's a great references, it's got a lot of
basic information to refer back to
if you've got a rigid hedal weaver a great bookfor that is the Weaver's Idea Book
by Jane Patrick. And it sort of starts with the basics and goes so far that
you could spend years working with this book. Now for the more advanced weavers
there's some really fun stuff that's come out recently
one is the book Custom Woven Interiors
by Kelly Marshall
and the new book Interlaced
from the Boston Weavers Guild celebrating
their ninetieth anniversary. Then we also have
tools and equipment for weavers.
One is a little rigid heddle loom called the Cricket.
and it comes in both
a ten inch width and a fifteen inch width
also
in the simpler looms category is the inkle loom.
with Inkle Looms you make woven bands
they're fun, easy to do
and beautiful designs lots of colorful work that you could do
we have a cherry shuttle. A lot of times, weavers use a lot of different kinds
of boat shuttles
and the cherry shuttles are really a beautiful shuttle something that they
might not get for themselves but it's a fun thing to have and a very fine tool to have
there are some fun fibers out there, some new things
and some sort of
luxury yarns that
the person might not necessarily buy for themselves but would love to work with
in the new category we have our new category we have our 5/2 bamboo which is
a thicker weight that we used to carry
and it's great for scarves and all kinds of things it's got a
beautiful sheen
to it and great drapability
great scarves all kinds of things and a nice color range to work with.
then, you can't pass up cashmere
we have both
the mongolian cashmere in both
one hundred-percent cashmere and as a blend with silk both of which
have a pretty wide color range and
the hand and the feel of the cashmere is just
just wonderful
and would be well appreciated by anybody
