It was really crucial to the longevity of our Advocate Hub, and of our
advocacy programs in general, to get my colleagues involved, to really get
them understanding this community and get them leveraging this community.
Over the years I've said so many times, "These people can help you reach
your goals." But it wasn't until the Advocate Hub was introduced that it
really made sense to a broad range of my colleagues at SMART across
different parts of the organization.
I achieved this a few ways. I set up an online process so that my
colleagues at SMART, no matter what their department, no matter what
they're looking for with our advocate community, could engage with our
Advocate Hub. This online form just asks them what are they looking for our
advocates to do? What's their timeline? What is the desired outcome? That
form, once it's filled in electronically, drops into my inbox. I create the
challenge. In about 30 seconds, up it goes, and then the results are
reported back to my colleagues.
I put together a workshop to deliver at SMART's headquarters to a variety
of stakeholders so that they fully understood what a challenge is and how
the Advocate Hub can help them meet their goals. That workshop was really
successful, and we saw a huge uptake in the platform after the workshop.
At SMART, it was critical to ensure that a broad variety of teams were
engaged through the hub so that the challenges would be varied and ongoing
and pretty much rapid fire right out of the gate.
