Right we’re out here on the range at the 2013 PGA Show. I’ve got Luke with me. Luke
sorry for keeping you from your dinner first of all. No worries. But this is the X Hot
driver, new for 2013. Tell us all about it. What’s new for this year. Yeah, we’re
really excited about this product it’s a new all titanium driver for us, that’s something
we haven’t had for a little while. We know there are certain golfers out there that just
like the look or the sound and feel of titanium, so we’re excited to have that. This driver
comes in 2 flavours. There’s the standard and the pro model. The standard model is a
little bit bigger than the pro, it’s 460ccs. They both have this matt grey crown but the
standard model has some crown decals that the pro model doesn’t. And the pro model,
what size is the head on the pro model? The pro model is 435, it’s got a little deeper
face and little smaller footprint as you look down on it. Ok so talk to us about adjustability
on the X Hot. Yeah, they both feature the hosel adjustability that we introduced last
year on the RAZR Fit. So that allows you to set your face angle. It comes square, from
there you can open it up and when you open it up you’re also taking a little bit of
loft off so that will flatten out the trajectory for some. And then you can close it if you
tend to miss the ball right closing the face will help with that and it also makes it a
little bit easier to get it up in the air. Now I go out and buy a 9.5 loft X Hot driver,
what can I adjust this lofts wise to? So if you take a 9.5 and you open up the face you’re
taking about a degree of loft off the club. If you deliver the club back with the face
more open you’ll see 1 degree less loft on your trajectory. And when you close it
conversely your adding a degree of loft. So some of that is player dependant. Some players
will re-square the club no matter how they set it and if they do that they’ll see big
differences in trajectory. But if when you close the face and you deliver it more closed
you’ll see more of a lateral difference in the trajectory. Ok last one, a quick word
on the shafts. What new with the shafts for 2013? Yeah so in this line we have a new shaft
from Project X. It a new Project X Velocity. In the regular version it’s a shaft that
they made for us , a version for us. It’s a little bit softer and lighter than the true
aftermarket shaft. And in the pro model we have the true aftermarket. So the pro model
comes with the Project X flex definition, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 the standard come with the Red
X and the more traditional A, R and S flexes. Luke, fantastic, absolutely brilliant. That’s
the X Hot driver, new for 2013 from Callaway.
