Hello guys! Today I'm going to play Tetris Stars on Facebook.
I'm quite interested in this newly released game, because this game is unique among the
other Tetris games,
because instead of Tetris or T-Spins, this game actually focuses a lot more on
speed and downstacking, which is really rare,
and of course its cascading style, because if you clear a line, the pieces above will
fall down
It can fall down more than the line cleared so it can trigger some more line clears,
and it helps downstacking, although the bonus score from the cascade is very low.
But, yeah, it helps downstacking.
Okay, this video is about getting a high score without any power ups so I will not use any
power up.
And the two most important things in scoring a high score are downstacking and maintaining
speed bonus.
Errm, first downstacking, okay.
Downstacking will give you time bonus, a lot of time bonus that will extend your game,
thus giving you more time to score more points.
And as you downstack and gets lower, you will gain score multiplier, so downstacking is
essential to your game.
But the second key is not less important, maintaining your speed bonus,
because if you only downstack you will end up like five hundred thousand, or six hundred
thousand score,
so you really need to maintain your speed bonus.
Actually speed bonus is based on line clears, so no matter how fast you drop pieces,
if you don't clear a line you'll lose the speed bonus.
If you play really quickly, you can drop three pieces before losing the speed bonus,
so you must use the third piece to clear a line in order to maintain the speed
bonus.
If you are not fast enough, you must clear a line every two pieces,
but that is still possible, and with that actually you can still score one million or
so,
yeah with just an average speed.
But you really need to stack properly, and plan ahead of course,
and use the hold function, especially if you are not fast enough.
For controls, I prefer using keyboard, because I play faster with keyboard,
and I don't show hints because that's quite annoying,
but if you are faster with mouse actually, yeah you can use the mouse.
I don't know, which is better, mouse or keyboard.
So far for me, I'm still better on keyboard.
And, okay I won't use any power up so I'll start the game.
Oh, remember the two keys are downstacking and speed bonus.
Okay, when I'm playing, actually, my English is not very fluent,
so when I'm playing I cannot talk much so
I'm sorry for that, but let's just understand what I'm doing.
So as the game starts, I immediately try to get the speed bonus,
Ooh, okay that's a misdrop.
I was having quite a lag here because I'm... I am... recording this and that makes me lag
a lot.
Okay, so here, I am trying to clear a line with every single piece,
and that is in order to maintain the speed bonus.
Okay, I failed to do that just then, so I lose the speed bonus which is very important.
Ah, you can hear the lightning speed.
That means you have reached the highest speed bonus, actually.
It's best if you can maintain it.
But I'm doing quite a lot of mistakes here, so I have lost my speed bonus quite many times.
Okay, perfect clears actually gives you very little score,
so it is not worth it if you spend some time just to get a.. what.. a perfect clear.
I forgot the word, o man.
There I got lightning speed again.
So an ideal game is actually where you can get the lightning speed and maintain it the
whole game,
without losing it at all.
So here I only scored one million... okay actually this score is quite good, but if
you can maintain the speed bonus
really you will score much better than this.
I just lost it like four times or five times through the game.
And I only reached level eight? Okay, that means that I don't downstack quickly enough.
But I hope you get the point.
Triples and Tetris just score a very little score so they are not worth it.
It's better to go for the speed bonus, so relying on singles, or maybe doubles just
to maintain your speed bonus.
Okay, I'll play once again to try for a better score but I'll not be talking to you so I'll
be able to play better.
Ow, misdrop there.
Noo, I lost the speed bonus again. Too bad.
And again, okay, I'll not score good this time again.
This is not the ideal game of course.
Okay, quite a bit better than before.
Actually I still lost my speed bonus a few times in this game, so this is not the ideal
game for me.
And as you see sometimes I sacrifice the position,
I mean I make the position much worse just to maintain the speed bonus.
And I think it's worth it because the speed bonus really gives you a lot of score.
And actually when you make a mistake, I mean like a misdrop, if you are experienced in
this cascading style,
actually You will be able to fix it much faster.
But that requires much experience and practice which I haven't done yet actually.
I'm not used to the cascading style so you can see I have not utilized the benefit of
cascading style.
So this is not quite the perfect guide for you but, I have covered the basic things
downstacking and the speed bonus, so those are the two essential things that most affect
your score in this game.
Thank you for watching, I hope we'll meet again in another of my video. Good bye!
