Being a member of the Student Campus Council
means you are able to access a student representative mentoring program.
The mentoring program is designed to help you develop your leadership skills
and really to enhance your ability to fulfill
your duties on office of the campus Council. As a part of being
on the program we aim to match you with a mentor
in your chosen field of interest - this could be mental health for example -
and in that case we will try match you with somebody from maybe from the
School of Health and someone who has those skills
that can really guide you in your portfolio or chosen area of interest.
Likewise, too, if your interest is in leadership
we will try match you with someone from the Academic Senate to really
enhance your skills. So, long after you've left the university
you have taken something with you that is not any part of the curriculum of the
University
and this is a key aim of the mentoring program is that your
able to develop skills that are not a part of the curriculum
these are skills you can take with you in your chosen field of interest.
The mentoring program is infinite in its possibilities
maybe your interest is diversity - it could be racism, sustainability,
women's issues, that's all down to you. I'd really strongly encourage you
to take advantage of this wonderful program and to get on board and be
a member of the Student Campus Council.
