I'm going to show you how to do a quick and easy prom hairstyle for naturally curly hair.
I'm going to start off by sectioning out a rectangle shape on the top of the head, going
from where she parts to the side. Then what I'm going to do, is I'm going to soften this
corner, so I have a rectangle shape. I'm just going to take and round out this one corner
and that's where the hair will start to flow down. So I just want it to be a really soft
shape.
I am going to create a side bun here, and then I'm going to do a cascade of waves, on
the other side. So I'm going to take all of this hair over to the other side. Take a clear
elastic band and just secure the ponytail in place. I'm just going to create a bun here,
and I always like to tuck in the ends, and then loosen it up as I go.
Then once you have your desired shape, I just place my hand over the top of it. Holding
it into place, and then I'm going to actually stick bobby pins in, and push them back. So
after you get that bun in place then we're going to start working with the top section
here, and I'm going to do diagonal sections and I'm going to curl them all going backwards.
Curling them away from her face.
Now I'm going to start the second section. We'll do about three sections. Doing exactly
the same thing, moving everything away from the face, so I'm just going to continue doing
that now. I've just finished curling every piece of
hair on the top section. Now I'm going to rake my hands through it to smooth it out.
So what we're going to do is we're going to style it into a very swooped ***.
So leave out as much as you want to around the face. Then we're take it and I'm just
going to throw in a couple of twists at the bottom and then wrap the end around the bun.
Bobby pin that into place. You could also, bobby pin the twist into place too, just to
make it a little bit more secure. And certainly if it wasn't long enough to wrap around, you
could do the same thing, where you just gave it a half twist, and tucked it in. You can
always tuck any ends into the hairstyle itself.
So we take a little bit of hairspray and spray it at this point and I always like to spray
with hairspray in the direction of the hair. Another thing I like to do is, when you're
hair spraying you can use the side of the can to smooth down those little fly-away's.
This is a great stylist trick, and the reason we like it is because when you put hands into
wet hairspray, your hands get stuck or your fingertips get stuck. For some reason that
can just slides right along, and here is a very simple Taylor Swift-inspired look for
prom.
