The main problem with an e-drum-set in an appartment is the expansion of noise through mechanical vibrations. To separate the e-drum from the ground, I've used this method: repress vibrations as close to the source as possible.
To implement this, I follow these steps: 1. damp end stops (bass drum *** and hi-hat) 2. decouple bass drum and hi-hat from drum rack 3. damp pedals with small "trampolines" 4. damp base plate
damping the base plate
base plate (from top to bottom): - carpet - camping mat - 2,5cm (1") plywood - tennis balls with foam in between
balls damping the vibration of the base plate, foam damping the airborne sound between base plate and ground
damping the end stops (bass drum ***)
decoupleing bass drum from drum rack
damping the pedals
spikes to prevent slipping (adjustable height)
damped foot for the drum rack

drumset without the platform (sound level downstairs)
drumset on the platform (sound level downstairs) same recording setup as before
To hear something downstairs, it has to be very quiet in the room and you need to have a very good sense of hearing, even if the drums are played very hard.
It looks a bit wobbly, but it doesn't disturb me at all. Because of the coarse carped and the spiked components, nothing slips away.
Now the only thing left is practicing ...
... but above all, having fun!
