Today I'm at Clara White Mission to find out what they are all about, and also to serve
some people in need.Every year the Miracle on Ashley Street is a fundraiser at Clara
White Mission. They invite local Celebrities and Chefs to serve lunch for the Jacksonville
business community as well as people in need. Over 150 Celebrity servers come to the event,
and this year I was one of them. My job was to serve green beans. And look who else was
here, my friend Donovin Darius. He had a really tough job, but that was no problem for Donovin.
We have everything here, whatever you want. Come get it! Who's the food? Very good. All
of it was good? Collard greens, and the chicken. Today I'm with Jo'coby Pittman from Clara
White Mission. Can you tell us what Clara Mission is, for those who don't know and what
you do. The Clara White Mission has been around 109 years providing social services to veterans,
low income and homeless. It was started by a mother-daughter team. What are some of your
programs? It's a culinary, janitorial and construction program for the homeless. It's
a 20 week program, certified by the state of Florida. Now if someone wants to donate,
not just their time, how do they do that? Some money? Yes, Ma'm. You know we don't take
I.O.U. but we do take credit cards and cash cards. No donation is too small, right? Absolutely
not! The Clara White Mission is doing great work in our community and they need our support.
No donation is to small, and they always need volunteers. You can call Clara White Mission
