My name is Steve Krispinsky and I serve as the Executive Director
of Ashland University's MBA program.
The MBA program has been in existence since 1978 here at Ashland University.
Shortly after that, we took our MBA program off campus to several locations.
At the present, we have locations in Columbus,
Medina, Massillon, Westlake,
and of course, the main campus here in Ashland.
We serve over 550 students per semester, and my areas of responsibility
mainly lie in Academic Advising.
I serve as the Academic Advisor for all of the MBA students,
assisting them in selecting courses, and pursuing their MBA degree.
At times, also, I work with scheduling.
I help put the schedule together.
We also do what are called MBA open houses.
My job also involves recruiting.
At all the locations, we have what are called MBA open houses, where once a semester
we'll go to our off-campus locations and offer an MBA open house.
That consists of approximately a one-hour program,
where we have prospective students attend the session
and what we do is we give them a good overview of what our MBA program consists of.
As far as recruiting goes, we also do,
right now, we're on a lot of a social media. We try to do that, we do some radio
advertising and billboards.
Also, the word of mouth is an excellent source
for promoting our MBA program, meaning those students who have had a positive
experience in our MBA program,
what they do is they go back and share that experience with their colleagues
and therefore, that does generate a lot of interest in our MBA program
and helps us to gain more numbers from their respective company.
Also, when it comes to scheduling, I put the schedule together,
with the assistance of our Associate Dean, we schedule for all of the areas,
Columbus, Medina, Massillon, Westlake,
and the main camps here in Ashland, and what we do is
we try to offer all of the core courses there,
being that they have six required courses and six electives.
So, we try to get those core courses there,
offering in a traditional format, as well as a hybrid online format,
so therefore giving the students the opportunity to select courses in either venue.
Also, we have what is called a total online MBA program.
The past two years, beginning in the fall of 2011,
we started to offer our MBA program totally online.
That program has grown.
We initially had about 25 to 30 students
in the Fall Semester of 2011.
Now, the spring semester of 2013,
we have close to one hundred students that are enrolled in our online MBA program.
That is a program course that can not only reach students here in the state of Ohio,
we also go on our border states and also states down south,
and other states, where we have students attending our online MBA program.
Also, when we deliver courses, we have three types of course that we deliver.
We have the traditional courses that meet one evening a week.
We also have what are called a hybrid on-line courses, where they meet
approximate 50% in class, 50% out of class,
and then we also have what are called our online program,
our online courses, where the majority of the course is delivered online.
So therefore in their program, the students can have a variety
of different type of teaching and delivery models
where they can select from in pursuing their MBA degree.
Also, we have services.
We have the academic support services for our students.
We have the financial aid in the Columbus location.
We have the Career Services there at the Columbus location.
On the main campus, we support the other locations through our main campus Academic Services.
If you would like further information on our MBA program,
feel free to go to our website, www.ashland.edu/graduate/mba
and you can get a lot of the information right there,
or contact the MBA office at 1-888-MBA-CLAS
and one of us will provide information for you
or we can send you a MBA packet to your home address.
Also, we have three semesters a year: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
So, it does not really matter which semester you begin.
This is not a cohort program, meaning you don't have groups,
you don't go through this program with groups.
You go at your own pace.
If you can only afford to go one course a semester, you go one course a semester.
If you want to double up and take two course per semester, you can do that,
and also complete the MBA program in two years.
The program is not only design for the student who has the
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. No, the program is also designed for
anyone who has a bachelor's degree
and wants to pursue the MBA, the Masters of Business Administration.
What we do have for the non business degree holder is we do have MBA foundation courses,
that kind of bridge the gap for you, so that we will offer the principles of
accounting, finance, marketing, economics, statistics,
in a foundation course that will help you, again, bridge the gap
and prepare you for the core courses in our MBA program.
I want to thank you for your time and we wish you the best in
your pursuit of an MBA degree. Thank you.
