So now for the tea cups. I've got three quarters of a pound of clay. The centering is the same,
again. The left hand stabilizing, the right hand doing the work. Pushing towards the left.
Now with my tea cups, I like to trim a foot into them. To give them just a little bit
more of a raised appearance. Makes them little bit more elegant. In order to be able to do
that, you have to leave little bit more in the foot of the piece. So as I open, I'm not
going to go down very far. I want to leave about a half an inch, this time. So I'm going
to check with my needle tool. Got just about a half an inch. Which is right at, what I
want. And now, I'm going to compress the bottom. It's especially important, when you're leaving
a thicker bottom. To make it, to give it a good compression. Because it's more likely
to crack, as it dries. If it's thicker. I'm using my curved rib. So the bottom of my tea
cup will have a curve on the interior. Instead of a flat bottom. And now I'm ready to pull
the walls.
