Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell, and on behalf of Expert Village, today I'm going
to talk to you about ways to alleviate some of the symptoms or help you to alleviate some
of the symptoms of colds and flus. Now, in this clip, I want to talk to you about hydration
and replenishing your electrolytes in your body, especially if you are suffering a really
bad bout of flu and viral colds and you are doing a bunch of nauseating and vomiting and
diarrhea as well. So, here are some suggestions that you should replenish your body with.
Of course, water is the number one that you should drink lots of water to hydrate your
body from colds and flus. Because of the fever you are going to perspire and lose a lot of
the water that way. If you are vomiting, as well, and if you've got diarrhea. So, water
is a very important fluid to keep up when you are feeling sick. Fruit juices as well,
because fruit juices specifically those with some electrolytes added to it. Like here,
we have fruit juices, but we also have organic soy milk that (if you can tolerate it) has
vitamins in it that you can drink to replenish some of the electrolytes that you are going
to (if you vomit) that you are going to lose from your body. So, cranberry juice, orange
juice and milk if your body can tolerate it when you have colds and flus. Drink these
fluids and keep up your fluid intake so that you don't dehydrate when you are suffering
from colds and flu.
