So now, we're going to talk about jewelry trends and trends in patterns that existed
in the '70's. The big jewelry trends followed the clothing trends which were the return
of hippie clothing, ethnic prints, and also, the other one was disco fashion. So, in terms
of ethnic prints, ethnic jewelry became really popular. You can see the necklace that I'm
wearing. It has natural stones and wood beads on it. You can also see that there is a large
mother-of-pearl pendant. Once again, these are natural materials but it's a little more
refined that what you might have seen the '60's. This is because this look had entered
the mainstream from hippie culture. You can also see my earrings, which are sort of a
tribal print at the bottom and the green is reminiscent of jade, which is a naturally
occurring stone. You, still, also see geometric shapes. These are circles. The same way that
this pendant is a circle and that is also leftover from the late '60's. This jewelry
is sleeker and it's bigger. It's meant to be statement jewelry. You really didn't wear
dainty things in the '70's. As far as disco jewelry went, you can see this bracelet. It
has a, sort of, classic look on the top, but when you turn it over, there's a sparkle.
That was what you went for. You went for, what today would be called 'bling', as far
as disco fashion went. This would complement the shininess of the fabric and things like
that.
