Hal Lesko: My name is Harold Jay Lesko. In 2 weeks I will be 97. People generally now
call me grandpa.
Grandson: Grandpa was what they call a lettering man. Which means he was a typographer. So
he would spend his days hand drawing different letter forms, and creating these elaborate
type faces. We got grandpa a computer 15 years ago, and I knew I had to show him Microsoft
Paint. I don't think anybody had any idea how important this thing would be to him.
Hal Lesko: When I lost my eyesight, I thought my painting days were over. The computer has
made it possible for me to continue to paint. This was one of my first drawings on the computer.
The nice part is you can blow it up in these sections, and that's the way I do things.
I got a lot of patience, that's what you really need anyways, so.
"Barber clippers cutting hair"
Hal Lesko: Nobody ever sees what I really do. I would like to know that they really
get some enjoyment out of it, because that's the object of painting, you know. I never
really referred to me as an artist, because that's up to other people to decide whether
you're an artist or not. I never thought I'd be here at 96, but I still enjoy painting
and the computer is a marvelous instrument.
Granddaughter: "Grandpa make a wish"
"Cheering"
Hal Lesko: Now I can do whatever I want.
