Today we will make pua. They are also known as gulgulle.
Let’s see what all ingredients are required for making pua.
Wheat flour - 1 cup
Sugar - ¼ cup
Oil - for frying
Take out sugar in pan as it needs to be dissolved in water.
Add ½ cup water as well.
Cook until sugar dissolves completely.
Now add this water in flour.
Take ½ cup more water.
Stir until all lumps get dissolved completely.
Batter is ready.
It should have pouring consistency like this.
Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
Whisk the batter some more.
If the batter is too thin in consistency then they will not get puffy.
If the batter is too thick then they will not get spongy
Check whether oil is hot or not.
Place one drop of batter in the oil
it should float immediately on the surface.
Now fry pua.
You can use spoon or your hands for making pua.
We have used sugar for making pua
but we can use jaggery too.
Meetha pua are now ready.
As per traditions new bride is given pua to consume as shagun.
Meetha pua is also prepared for many rituals as well.
