It's November 8th, 2011, and this morning all the news
stations are carrying the story of the conviction of Michael
Jackson's personal doctor. One issue that Michael Jackson's
life brought to the forefront is the use of skin lightening
creams. Many of these creams contain an ingredient called
hydroquinone. As it turns out, hydroquinone is a benzene
metabolite that is if someone is exposed to benzene the body will
actually turn it into hydroquinone. And it is that
compound that is suspected of causing leukemia. In 2006, the
FDA issued a proposal rule questioning whether or not the
use of hydroquinone in OTC products should be banned. In
some countries, that's already the case. I'm Bernard Daskal of
Lynch Daskal Emery. We represent individuals who have been harmed
by pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other products,
including individuals who have been harmed from the use of
hydroquinone containing skin whitening creams. If you have
leukemia, if you've used skin whitening creams, and you have
questions about the possible connection, give me a call. My
number is 800-585-1190. I'm Barnard Daskal, thank you for
watching.
