Hello and welcome to this training video. In this video I would like to demonstrate
how to make a building which consists of several building objects.
First we will draw our main building which
will be our template for our finished building.
As you can see, we are just using some random measurements and placing the corners. And
now we have our main building.
In this main building I would like to make a balcony that is going up here and I would
like to make two dormers going into the roofline here.
So, first I will create a gable on it by using
the gable function as demonstrated in a previous video. We will apply the gable, we will
copy the gable, and then we will place it on the other side of the building We will
also add a roof to this building
Now we have the basic structure of a building. We just need to add all of our information.
First, I will make those big dormers on the backside and I will do that very simply by
generating a building that fills approximately half of the other building. Let’s just say
it is around 2 meters. I will use the ‘Z’ key to go in and complete the building
Now I have an empty wall and I will place
a gable on this one. I select “create gable.” I will click on it and select
“edit gable“. The trick now is to get the exact same roofline height as the other
building. So I will enter 892 cm and we will get a very steam gable. If we want to change
any of the parameters of this gable, let‘s say we want to make the angle 42 degrees,
we can use the “Advance gable” function. I won‘t show this function here because
the gable is actually the way we want it. We will copy the gable from this point to
this point and put it down here in the back end.
We will add a roof to the object by selecting
the “add roof” function and hitting enter. Now we have the first one and I will copy
it using the hot key C and drag it into position, making small adjustments as needed. We will now take the first one and place it
here.
Let’s have a look at what we actually did. And there you have it. Two dormers built into
the roof.
There are other ways to accomplish this task, but this is a smart way to do it, especially
if, for instance, you want to add a balcony.
Let’s say that this balcony should be 8 meters high. We will make the building object very simply
by drawing from the house corner point to the house point inside the other object, like
so. Now we have a building object exactly the height that we want.
You can also add round objects. For example,
we could place a round object here in the corner, like this, and we could even add a
roof to it. Here is what it looks like in 3D.
These are just some of the tricks that we can use to building objects. I will show you
more tricks and tips in the advanced techniques videos. Stay tuned.
