David Lindsay:Salt therapy is a therapy designed to relieve the symptoms of respiratory
and skin ailments. Salt therapy achieves this by relieving the congestion, inflammation
and allergies of the airways. Sufferers of respiratory conditions, they come to our centres,
they sit in our salt rooms, and what happens is, we've got halogenerators that grind up
pharmaceutical grade salt and disperse it into the air. Customers then inhale these
fine particles of pharmaceutical grade salt. The salt lines the walls of the airways and
draws the inflammation, the fluid that's built up in the airway wall. It dilates the airways,
breaks up the congestion and the sufferer coughs the congestion out.
So salt therapy is positioned as a management therapy, complementary therapy
to medication. It works in conjunction with the sufferer's management plan and current
medication. Salt therapy is designed to clean the respiratory system and relieve the symptoms
of the condition.
