Should I use LegalZoom? What’s the deal with these online legal services? I’m Steve
Kramer. I’m a Florida attorney. Let’s talk about these online legal services. Now
what they do generally is they provide you with boilerplate forms – standard forms
– for corporations or LLCs or wills or trusts or they even handle trademark issues sometimes.
And here’s the secret. I make more money off of LegalZoom and online service clients
than anywhere else. Because I get to fix the mess. Because when you draft an important
document, you want it to be done the right way. You want it to be tailored to fit your
needs. It’s not about what’s in the boilerplate form. Many, many attorneys use boilerplate
forms. We use boilerplate forms. It’s about making that form fit the client; it’s about
tailoring it and making sure that it suits your needs. You can cost yourself thousands
of dollars in future legal fees. You can cost yourself thousands of dollars in tax liability.
You can cost yourself thousands and tens of thousands of dollars in liability, by doing
things wrong. You can miss huge opportunities. It’s worth it to sit down with an attorney
and go through and make sure everything you do fits your needs. Don’t cut corners. Don’t
save the penny to waste a pound. It just doesn’t make sense. Sit down with an attorney. If
you want to sit down with me, I’d be glad to do that. I deal with this stuff all the
time and I have fixed these issues from some of these online sites. And I don’t mean
to knock their services; they provide a valuable service for people. The problem is a lot of
time it winds up costing people money. And if you’ve got a good savvy mind and you’re
smart, then you know it’s better to do it the right way. And that’s what I’m trying
to tell you here. So pick up the phone, give me a call. I’m Steve Kramer, thanks for
watching.
