today we will make makhana paag.
makhana paag is usually prepared for janmasthami as prasad and for new mother.
let's see what all ingredients are required for making makhana paag.
makhana - 50 grams
sugar - 250 grams (more then 1 cup)
milk - 1 tbsp
ghee - 150 grams (less then 1 cup)
firstly cut makhanas.
take one makhana and cut into 4-5 pieces.
now we will fry them.
add ghee in preheated pan.
when ghee gets hot add makhana for frying.
fry until they turn little brown in color.
take out the fried makhanas.
now we will prepare syrup for paag.
for this add 250 grams sugar in pan.
add 80-85 grams water.
we will add less then 1/2 cup of water.
turn on the gas.
cook until sugar melts completely.
sugar has melted and syrup has started boiling as well.
now add milk in the syrup so that impurities get separated easily.
there will be formation of froth on the surface with which impurities will also get separated.
now separate out the froth in a bowl.
turn off the gas;syrup is now ready.
now add fried makhanas in the syrup and mix well.
i will get set when it gets frigid.
grease plate with some ghee.
mix it nicely like this so that makhana get coated with syrup nicely.
when you see that syrup is getting thick then pour the mixture in plate and then set it.
within 15 minutes paag will get set.
makhana paag is ready.
cut into pieces of your choice and store in an air tight container and enjoy eating for up to 1 month.
