The range of clothing that I've donewas aimed at a competition, the Midlands Young Designer of the Year
and basically it's a reflection of my own character and personality. I like quite traditional clothing
and I think you can't really buy stuff like that on the hight street.
I did get my influence from Cruella de Vil
as you can probably see from the fur,
and also it's quite gothic.
Also, the 20s as well.
The dress I did is sort of in the Charleston era.
There's quite a few things that inspired me to do it
and I wanted to produce something for women
that's very different.
I've won, so I suppose that's the best response you can get
and everyone came up to me after; Toni & Guy want to do a photo shoot
so really positive. It's quite different, people haven't seen do much tailoring
and gothic, I don't think.
I read a book of Alexander McQueen's and he said that everything is based around tailoring
which is the same thing that I go for as well, and Sarah Burton has been with
him from the beginning and she's followed it through so I really admire that.
When I do my end of year collection for this course
it will all be on the catwalk, hopefully.
