Safe hunting with Hawx Dog & Gun
One of the things I'd like to talk a little about today is handling
the Dog & Gun product on your gun and about safety.
And why really the Dog & Gun system
is probably the safest way
to run your dog as your peripheral view never leaves your gun
or the field-of-sight.
And whether you've got your
Dog & Gun here or whether you have it in the barrel...
okay, the most effective way to use it
- and we can go through an example,
would be... if I'm coming up on a bird
or a bird flushes in front of me
and my dog breaks the first thing that I should do
is let the bird get out, because that's the most effective way
to shoot the target,
but the dogs breaking, so the first thing that I would do is go "Whoa" (pushing the DG button)
in the safe position with the barrel up
and discipline my dog,
then move forward and take my shot on the bird.
Okay, so your gun should always be in the safe position.
Okay, so your dog breaks,
if it's a Pointer and he moves on the bird
as it flushes it's a "Whoa" command
then let the bird move out and take the shot... there!
So effectively if you're in a blind and you're sitting down and you've got your dog
say... in a boat
you would have your gun
either down,
you would tell the dog "Sit",
if your dog broke here when I shot up on a bird "***!"
okay, safe position "Sit"
All that can be done in less than a quarter of a second from shot
to stimulation.
Anyhow, using the Dog & Gun product
is a great way to keep
you're hunting safe with your dog.
