Hello and welcome to this video that will show you
how to create diagnostic files for your computer system.
Each chapter of this video can be accessed directly
by clicking the links in the table of contents currently shown onscreen.
The dxdiag and msinfo files contain information
about how your computer is set up and what hardware and drivers it holds.
These files are useful when contacting our customer support
about a technical issue as they can help identify the problem.
The first step in creating the DxDiag file is to hold down the Windows key
and then press the R key of your keyboard to call up the "Run" window.
Now type "dxdiag" in the field and press Enter.
This will open the Direct X Diagnostic Tool,
which shows information about your system.
Now, click on "Save All Information".
In the "Save as" window that appears,
select an easy-to-access location such as your Windows Desktop.
Make sure that the file name is "DxDiag"
and that "Text File" is selected
in "Save as type", then click on "Save".
This will create a file called DxDiag.txt at the chosen location.
To create the MsInfo file, first call up the "Run" window
by holding down the Windows key and then pressing the R key of your keyboard.
Then type in "msinfo32" and press Enter.
Alternatively, you can open this window by clicking on "Start",
"All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools"
and then "System Information".
At the top of the System Information Window,
go to the "File" menu option and click on "Export".
In the "Export as" window that appears,
select an easy-to-access location such as your Windows Desktop.
Type "MsInfo" as the file name and make sure that "Text File"
is selected in "Save as type", then click on "Save".
This will create a file called MsInfo.txt at the chosen location.
For technical issues, diagnostic files can help our Customer Support team
identify the problem you're experiencing.
If you're asked to provide such files after contacting us,
you should receive a support ticket on your Battle.net account management page.
To send in the files, open a ticket
and add your response in the "Add a Reply" box.
Now click on the small blue "Attach a file" link
directly under the box and then on "Browse".
In the "File upload" window that appears,
navigate to the location you saved your diagnostic files to.
Select one of them and click on "Open".
Repeat this procedure for all the files you need to send.
Once you're finished, click on "Submit" to send your response.
Be aware that it is always a good idea to attach diagnostic files
when requesting help with a technical issue.
Just as for an open support ticket, you can add files
to a new support ticket by using the "Attach a file" option.
We hope this information was helpful.
