Hi! I’m Lisa Krone and I am here with Best Epicurean on behalf of expertvillage.com and
today we are going to talk about storing leftovers. So earlier I made some pasta with some butter
and some delicious Parmesan cheese and I think the best way to store that one is to use a
plastic container. Now you are going to want to keep this in the refrigerator no longer
than a week because it has butter and it has cheese and I think that when it comes to pasta,
it should not be in any longer than a week. So a great idea that you can do is you can
take a piece of masking tape and you can put it right on here the date that you stored
this in the refrigerator and that way you don’t have to mark your container up on
the different dates, so that is a suggestion. The other thing that I made earlier today
was tuna salad. Now on tuna or any other fish like product, this should not be in the refrigerator
any longer than 2 days after you make it. So I am taking it from the container and keep
something in mind when you are putting food away, you don’t want to put food away in
a container that is that much bigger than the amount of food because that is just more
air that is in there to help spoil your food even though it is in the refrigerator. You
don’t want anything that is too small either. As you can see from this one, I have labeled
this lid, I had some decaf coffee in there, but I would really most of the time use masking
tape. This I cut up for my toddler earlier. It’s a grilled cheese sandwich. Somebody
invited him to go play a game and he ran off, so instead of throwing his food in the garbage
because I am going to be using this later, I am going to want to put it back in the toaster
oven because that is going to keep your crunch on your grilled cheese. I’m going to cover
it with tin foil and what I am going to do when I am ready to cook it is, I’m just
going to take the item and I am going to dump it like this and throw it my toaster oven.
Another neat thing that I do is I have a vacuum sealer and we went to a tamale festival downtown
not too long ago and I wanted to keep the tamales so I used a vacuum sealer and I can
keep these in the freezer for up to a year. If you can see here, I wrote down the name
of the item and I dated it using a permanent marker. The neatest thing on the market now
is this, I don’t if it comes in any other variety, the Glad maker Press and Seal Product
and it totally sticks to your cup. This is a cup of apple juice, my toddler, who when
I served him the grilled cheese, he ran off but it is so cools because I put it on here
and check it out. No drips, no spills. This is how you take care and store your leftovers.
