Hey guys! Yes I know it's not the 15th, but my friend literally begged me to put another
video up already
so here you go. I highlight. He begged me
so don't expect me to be posting videos
like this ever 2 or 3 days, because that's just a bit too hard.
So as some of you may know already
this march I auditioned to be in a musical. If you wish to see the audition, click my teddy.
The musical actually took part mid-july this year so quite recently,
and to be honest I'm still pretty knackered from it.
I got into the cast of the musical.
As you probably guessed, once we started rehersing in the theatre, and actually
performing, we had to spend about half of our time backstage
with other cast members. Now,
I have a few comments I'd like to make.
First of all, just to clarify, if you were in the musical
shows with me and are watching this now, I did not hate
anyone, and I most definitely did not hate you! As I imagine all
people do, I had my preferences of who I liked and disliked
being around. But that is not hate it's something completely different
okay? And anyway I couldn't have hated you
because you're amazing and you're awesome! I'm not mentioning any names, but there was so
much
much backstage hatered and drama, tears and screaming
and stealing things. Personally all I lost was some old,
ripped flip-flops. Honestly guys? Who wants that? But I
got some new ones and they actually work. Yay!
Yaaay!!!
But my friends lost make-up bags, blusher,
clothes, hairspray, and someone kept stealing food and drink from
the fridge! At one point, a phone was stolen, and the found
behind a door after no-one owned up to sending a hurtful message
to someone else from the cast. From that phone, obviously. Also, there was one
particular person, which just got on everyone's
nerves, like literally every day, someone would leave the theatre
in a strop, usually because of that person. I know I did a few
times. People would backchat everyone and
all that unnecessary rubbish. Anyway, what I'm here to do now, is give you
ten top tips on how to avoid possible drama backstage.
Have your own bag or suitcase
and have all your stuff labelled and
always in or around your bag.
Avoid lending people stuff because with 200 cast members and
4 changing rooms,
it will not come back to you.
Also have your own little corner. Have your own copy of scripts, running
orders and lyric sheets. If you do not have a printer,
take a picture of existing lyric sheet/running order/script
and re-write it at home. It'll help you remember, and you will have your own copy.
also if you're someone who loses papers easily,
Make 3 copies. And if you have a printer, print it.
If you have more than one costume, put each costume in a separate plastic bag,
and put the plastic bags in order in your bag. Trust me, it'll help!
When you've just come off stage, and need to change
Make sure your next costume is pre-set. Take off your current costume and shove it in
your bag. Do not take time to fold it, you can re-arrange this later. Put on your next
costume and make sure you know when you're next on
When you have a long break from going onstage,
and I don't mean the fifteen or twenty minute interval
that's when you can arrange your clothes if you wish to but only after you've prepared for your next time of going onstage
During the interval, or the fifteen or twenty minute
break,
make sure you know how much time you have.
Eat something, drink something, go to the toilet
Prepare for your next time onstage and then rest the remainder of the time
When you're talking to people in your dressing room,
Make sure you never say anything about anyone around anyone that you distrust
even if it may not be bad, they will go and they will tell
and you will be found guilty :)
Try not to say anything which
could upset someone or make them think you're weird
because sooner or later people will come and tell you that you've been talked about
in the room. And this pretty upsetting message might affect your performance on stage, and we
don't want that...
Have your own food,
drink, fan and for
girls, skintights. Don't ask
people for food or drinks. One -
they'll say no. Two - ew.
you need a fan. Trust me, running around naked backstage
will still end up with you being baked
even fully hydrated, also use talcum powder
deodorant, anything that works for you because otherwise you
will sweat like mad. You probably will anyway,
but not as much if you use something.
As for hair and make-up, hairspray keeps both in place.
That's right! Just make sure you close your eyes and mouth when putting
hairspray on your face, and then wash it off thoroughly when you're finished.
Some people might be allergic to this on their
face, so make sure you know first.
Oh and also don't spray it around asthmatic people. Please.
Girls have at least 3 pairs of
skintights on you, because they will rip like crazy.
And my best advice is wear tehm at all times
because when you're sweaty and trying to take the off, or put them on,
they might rip, and also you're wasting loads of time, so just
keep them on at all times.
Have fun! Because if you don't
neither will the audience and we don't wanna go around giving loads of refunds because people
didn't like it!
So yes, guys that's it. I've also decided to dedicate each of my videos
So if you want a dedication, just ask me for one in the comments below.
Or on my Facebook page, to
to which I will also put a link down in the description. This first dedication is to
