Today, power comes from the sun. But few people are actually capable of using the sun's power
effectively. Key parameters for an effective solar module
are high efficiency, durability and low cost. As a result, automatic monitoring is a crucial
factor for product quality.VITRONIC has just the right tools – VINSPECsolar.
It all starts with the wafer. Only a high quality wafer can provide excellent module
performance. VINSPECsolar WIS inspects the geometry, edges
and surface of the wafer. Using infrared, VINSPECsolar WIS not only
identifies micro-cracks precisely, but also detects the granularity in multi and crystal
fraction in quasi-mono wafers, and classifies reliably.
After texturization, the VINSPECsolarARC systems identify process faults as deviations in the
surface reflectivity as well as by measuring the thickness of the anti-reflective coating
and detecting irregularities in the coating. Systematically and reliably.
Thanks to a sophisticated line scan camera setup, deviations in the metallization of
the front side can be detected reliably with VITRONICsolarPI.
A shuttle takes the cell from the conveyor belt. The right illumination is essential
for the image to be assessed. Two LED panels illuminate the surface. Another
LED panel installed under the shuttle ensures the edges to be captured precisely. The camera
is positioned perpendicular to the cell, scans the solar cell line by line and maps out the
surface with a resolution of up to 20 µm, creating a razor-sharp and detailed image.
This makes it possible to reliably identify faults in the metallization, coating and along
the edges. Our software is easy to use and highly effective.
Its modular structure allows new requirements to be easily integrated at short time.
When inspecting the imprint on the back, VITRONIC uses a matrix camera and special illumination
technology to detect the wafer edges and print contours, as well as three dimensional deformities
such as bubbles and occlusions. To do this, the VITRONICsolarPI system captures
four images, each from a different lighting angle. An relief image of the surface is then
created. Breaks in edges, deviations in the print surface as well as disruptions in the
conductor are detected reliably. Just like after metallization, VITRONIC also
implements a line scan camera in the cell tester for the front side inspection.
The special feature – color cameras with 4 integrated sensor chips.
VINSPECsolarCTS generates a color image from three color lines – red, green and blue.
An additional line is adapted especially for the high reflectivity of the metallization.
Both highly reflective and low-reflective parts of the cell are captured in perfect
detail. This ensures reliable print and color classification
of each individual solar cell–without manual inspection at all.
Now, the cells are ready to be processed (manufactured?) into complete modules.
VINSPECsolar systems are also used in module production to inspect all relevant steps of
production and make extensive automation possible. During the input inspection on the stringer,
VINSPECsolarMODUL determines the position of the cells and checks their quality.
On the complete string a comparable inspection takes place with additional checks of the
contacting. Another VINSPECsolarMODUL system also recognizes
position deviations and quality flaws, which can occur during lamination.
During final inspection in the flasher, VINSPECsolarMODUL determines the power output of each individual
cell and the entire module using electroluminescence. State-of-the-art camera technology with well
adapted software for each task. Reliable data processing and assessment.
Automation with high product quality. And all this without manual sight inspection.
The VINSPECsolar product family stands for high-quality, longevity, and a competitive
edge for your Photovoltaic products.
