This tutorial will show you how to get started using the Seagate Media application on your
mobile device.
First, we will show you how to wirelessly connect your mobile device to your Seagate
wireless drive.
Next, we will walk through the Getting Started instructions that you will see when you launch
Seagate Media for the first time.
Then, we will provide an overview of the Seagate Media features and show you how to navigate
through the app.
Seagate Media can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store, the Android Market and
the Kindle Apps Store.
Select the version of the application that is compatible with your mobile device.
Then download and install the Seagate Media application.
The first step after Seagate Media has installed, is to connect your mobile device to the Seagate
wireless drive.
To connect to the Seagate wireless drive, first, confirm both devices are turned on.
Next, wait until your wireless drive’s blue Wi-Fi indicator is displaying as a solid blue
light.
Then, launch your mobile device's Settings Section menu.
When the Settings page displays select Wi-Fi then, select your Seagate wireless drive from
the Network list.
Once you are connected, close the Settings page and return to your mobile device's Home
page.
Tap the Seagate Media icon and launch the application to continue.
The first time you launch the Seagate Media application, a Getting Started screen will
display.
Follow the on screen instruction to confirm that you can play a video and connect to the
internet while you are linked to the wireless drive.
You will use the Next and Previous buttons to navigate through the getting started screens.
To continue getting started with your Seagate Media application, tap on the Next button.
The first step is to make sure you can play a video from your Seagate wireless drive.
Tap Next to continue.
Before you begin viewing a video, review the onscreen instructions.
When you're ready to start, tap the Home icon at the top, left of the Getting Started screen.
Step One.
Tap one of the video icons on the screen to start the video playing.
When the video begins playing, watch for a moment to make sure the video is playing correctly.
When you have finished viewing the video, tap the Done button on the top left of the
screen to close the video and return to the Home page.
Step Two.
Tap the Getting Started button on the menu bar to return to the Getting Started screen.
If the video played correctly, you will be notified that you are now connected wirelessly
to your Seagate wireless drive.
If the video did not play, connect to the internet, open a web browser and enter the
troubleshooting link shown on the screen.
You will be taken to the Seagate Support site where you will find troubleshooting steps
which will help you resolve your issue.
To continue the Getting Started setup, tap Next.
Next, we will make sure you can connect to the internet while you are connected to your
Seagate wireless drive.
To begin, tap the Next button.
Before you begin this procedure, review the onscreen instructions.
When you're ready to start, tap the Home icon at the top of the screen.
Step One.
Tap on the Connectivity icon to launch the Networks drop down menu.
Seagate Media will begin searching for wireless networks that are within range.
This process will only take a moment to complete
Once the process has completed, the Wi-Fi Networks menu will display.
Step Two.
After the menu launches, select the network you want to connect to.
If your network is password protected, you'll be prompted to enter the password.
When you've finished, tap on the Join Network button.
Next, tap the Getting Started button on the menu bar to return to the Getting Started
screen.
You will be advised that you are now wirelessly connected to both your Seagate wireless drive
and the internet simultaneously.
You may also verify that you are connected to the wireless drive and the internet by
confirming that the Connectivity icon Wi-Fi symbol has changed to a Broadcast symbol.
When you have completed both the video check and Internet connection steps, you can begin
using your Seagate media.
Tap the Done button to close the Getting Started screens.
Next, we will show you around the application.
The Videos page is the default screen shown when Seagate Media is first launched.
Tap the drop down menu to display a list of the active pages.
Tap on the page entries to navigate to the page.
Tapping on the Search icon will launch the keyboard and search text box.
Enter your search criteria in the text field then tap the icon to begin your search.
Tap on the Refresh icon to update the indexing of the data stored on your Seagate wireless
drive.
This should be done any time new files have been uploaded to your drive.
Tap on the Battery icon to view the charge left on your wireless drive's battery.
Tapping on the Connectivity Icon will launch the Networks list Menu.
You may connect or disconnect from a network from this menu.
The Connectivity icon will change from a Wi-Fi symbol to a Broadcast symbol when you are
connected to the internet.
It will also change to a Select icon when more than one Seagate wireless drive is detected.
Use the Select icon to switch to a different Seagate wireless drive by tapping on the icon
and then selecting a device from the drop down menu.
Tapping the Settings icon will provide access to all available settings, system information
and help articles.
Tap on the Help icon to display the Guide to Using the Seagate Media application.
Tap the Layout buttons, located at the top right of the screen, to launch pop-up menus
from which you can customize the way your content is displayed on the page.
The options for customizing your page layout will differ depending on the page that you
are on at the time you tap the buttons.
Tapping on the circled Check Mark button will display the advanced option buttons.
The Advanced Option buttons will display on the top left side of the page and will provide
a selection of tasks that you can perform using Seagate Media.
For example, tapping the circled Check Mark button while on the Videos page will display
the Select All, the deselect All, and the Play and Download buttons.
The tasks available will differ depending on the page you are on when you launch the
Advanced Options buttons.
