[upbeat bouncy instrumental introduction]
(Kristine): Hi, I’m Kristine and thanks for joining us for
Clearly the Best Stamping with Close To My Heart. (Monica): And I’m Monica and today’s technique is [rrrrh!]
(Kristine): Yes. What she said. [laughs] (Monica): rock & roll. My little air guitar there.
(Kristine): We’re gonna have a little bit of fun with some rock & roll. (Monica): Yes, we are.
(Kristine): And it is kind of a messy, organic, super fun stamping
technique. Now a lot of times when we stamp, we just stamp in one
single color. And that looks great, but rock & roll combines a
little bit of both. It’s like a little bit of rock & roll,
a little bit of country, you know how that goes. Now, what I’m (Monica): (laughs)
(Kristine): Now, what I’m gonna be doing is showing you how to
make the flower image that’s on this gift box. Yep. (Monica): Oh, look at that. So beautiful.
(Kristine): So it’s got the stamped stitched base in brown but
then each petal is done in a beautiful combination of yellow and
green. How do I do it? Rock & roll. So we’re going to start with
the Just for You stamp set and you’ll see that it has a variety
of different petal designs for you to work with and I’m (Monica): Yes. Very versatile stamp set...
(Kristine): gonna work with the one that’s actually the
flower shape. And that’s what I’ve got already mounted to my nice (Monica): Okay.
clear block. It’s seasoned and ready to go. When I do rock &
roll, I like to start in my lightest color. Yep. Honey is my (Monica): You are doing Honey today.
(Kristine): lighter of my two colors. I make sure that it’s got
some good coverage and then I’m gonna rock it and roll it in (Monica): (Laughs)
(Kristine): green. Now watch what I do. I’m only covering the (Monica): Here we go.
(Kristine): very edges in green. (Monica): And you are literally rocking and rolling the stamp
(Kristine): rock & rolling baby! Oh, you know it. I can feel the music. (Monica): And it’s picking up the beautiful green shade all the way around.
(Kristine): Yep, but not too much. You’ll still be able to see
the yellow in the middle. Now, I get to line it up, ’cause I (Monica): Okay.
(Kristine): can see through the block! So awesome I put it (Monica): There you go.
(Kristine): down exactly where I want. And look at my petal. (Monica): Beautiful. Love that.
(Kristine): You can still see the yellow in the center. You can
see the green that surrounds it. I just repeat that step six
times, cleaning off my block each time as I go and I’m gonna
get a really variegated awesome yellow and green floral (Monica): Wonderful.
(Kristine): pattern when I’m done. And you have some great (Monica): I do.
(Kristine): designs that use the same concept. (Monica): Actually using the exact same colors that you’ve
just stamped with, um, you can see that I’ve done my base (Kristine): Love them!
(Monica): in this image in the Honey and then I rocked and rolled
the rest of the edges all the way around. Yes. I’ve done a (Kristine): You’ve just kind of a deeper rock & roll
(Monica): little bit farther. Exactly. Exactly right. It really (Kristine): on a larger image.
(Monica): doesn’t matter how big or how small, you can rock &
roll with every stamp. All right, so here’s this card. (Kristine): You can rock & roll with every stamp.
(Monica): All right, so here’s this card. You can see that I’ve
done it here as well. There I’ve got the blue base and the (Kristine): Uh, huh.
(Monica): green edges. And again, I’ve rocked & rolled a little
bit deeper so that you can get a, just see a little bit of the
blue underneath there. Yes. It really is. (Kristine): It’s a nice way to blend those colors. Even them out.
(Monica): And my last card that I’ve got right here. (Kristine): Ooohh.
(Monica): And so this image isn’t a circle. So far we’ve been
kind of working with even edges. You can do it with any one (Kristine): Right.
(Monica): and you just kind of manipulate the stamp, moving it (Kristine): Uh, huh.
(Monica): moving it around, rocking and rolling of course.
It’s super easy to do. (Kristine): Super easy. And honestly, it looks great every time
because it is fool proof. It’s intended to be a little messy and
a little organic. And so let me show you a couple of other pieces.
First, I’ve got my cute robot card. Now we’ve shown you a lot (Monica): Oh, yes!
(Kristine): of different colors where we want to blend the colors.
Not so on my robot card. His body is blue but then I’ve got his (Monica): Solid blue.
(Kristine): arms and legs done in bright yellow. And sure it
blends a little bit, but that just adds to the fun. And then
I’ve done some tone-on-tone work with this lovely scrapbook page. (Monica): Beautiful.
(Kristine): Now you can see that I’ve picked some of my images
in two matching shades of pink. Working with my light pink
first, stamping that image and then rolling the edges (Monica): It’s subtle, but so pretty.
(Kristine): In the darker pink. You know one other thing that
I want to point out about this page is that I made it using the
Avonlea papers which do not have any pink in them, but you, (Monica): Yes.
(Kristine): because you’re stamping, you can always pull in (Monica): Right.
(Kristine): another color and look how perfectly it complements (Monica): The photo.
(Kristine): her tutu just totally brings it all together. (Monica): Yep. And that’s just the beauty of our Close To My Heart
ink selection. We have over 40 colors for you to choose and
rock & roll mixing those colors up together. If you’d like to
