This is a video briefing from the National Weather Service in Glasgow, Montana on January
3rd, 2014, highlighting the threat for very cold wind chills expected this weekend.
The frontal system which brought a mix of precipitation to the region earlier today
has now changed all precipitation to snow as it moves south through eastern Montana.
By Sunday, a large and very cold arctic air mass will be anchored directly over northeast
Montana. After today’s snowfall, not much more snow
is expected through the weekend – less than 1 inch mainly south of the Milk River.
The main impacts with this event will be dangerously cold wind chills later this weekend, with
the worst wind chills being on Sunday night, as low -60. Frostbite on exposed skin will
be possible within just 10 minutes. Everyone should take the necessary precautions
to limit all outdoor activities. Weather conditions will gradually improve through the beginning
of next week. Thank you for watching this winter weather
video briefing. Please stay informed with the latest forecasts and weather warnings
