Hello, thanks for visiting the ombuds office. My name is Suzy Rosen Singleton.
I'm the campus ombuds. You may ask, "What's an ombuds?"
An ombuds is a person who provides visitors with a confidential, independent, neutral, and informal conflict management resource.
In other words, I may help in resolving conflicts, questions, issues, concerns, and problems related to Gallaudet.
The concerns may be academic-related, such as classes, grades, registration, and so forth;
or, non-academic-related, such as extracurricular activities, employment and other non-academic issues.
Who may visit the ombuds office?
Why is there an ombuds office at Gallaudet? Many other universities have
ombuds offices, and Gallaudet recognized this best practice in creating the ombuds office in 2008.
Now the campus community may visit the ombuds office in order to have a confidential, neutral,
and safe environment to resolve concerns, and to move forth in succeeding with their academic and employment endeavors.

Thank you for sharing your views about the situation. Now would you like to share your views as well?
Thank you so much for coming. We will have a follow-up meeting, as agreed. . .
This brings to mind a poignant quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
"The time is always right to do what is right."
Please visit the ombuds at any time you feel the need to do so. There is no "wrong" reason to visit the ombuds office.
How may you locate the ombuds office? The office is in Ely Center, room 113.
You may reach me through e-mail or videophone at any time.
Please keep in mind that the ombuds office is here to support you.
