In ecology news, a conference in Singapore highlights transitioning to the plant-based
diet to halt global warming. Called “Climate Change, Why We Should Care,” the gathering
featured a number of eminent speakers. One of them, Dr. Khoo Hsien Hui, presented her
research demonstrating that by having one meatless day a week, citizens of Singapore
could reduce their carbon footprint more than by decreasing electricity and transportation
use by 50%. Informative videos were also shown, including “An Urgent Message from Supreme
Master Ching Hai,” in which she urges global citizens to transition to the low-emissions
vegan diet to save our planet. Approximately 300 people attended. Among them were distinguished
representatives from eight countries.
