>> Jai'Wan Davis-Harbour: [Background Music] I always wanted to be a real boy.
And today I'm going to go to surgery to be able to give me a kidney.
>> Cherisse Davis-Harbour: We've been waiting five and a half years now on hemodialysis.
And here we are today receiving a kidney today.
It's also, at the same time, a sad occasion.
And my heart goes out for the family who lost their loved one.
And it's a blessing that people are organ donors and that they blessed my son with life.
And I'm really, really happy that this came.
And it came unexpectedly, so quickly.
And I prayed, and I said, "You know,
God's designing you a kidney Jai'Wan [assumed spelling], just for you.
This is his homerun.
He always said, "I'm like Pinocchio.
I'm empty.
I'm missing something.
And I still want to be a real boy."
>> Jai-Wan Davis-Harbour: The first thing I'm going to do is eat.
And then the second thing, I'm just going to play outside.
And the third thing is going to play baseball.
I've thrown a pitch out at the Tiger's game.
>> Here we go.
>> All right.
>> Take care.
I'll see you later.
>> Okay.
>> You're doing great, Jai'Wan.
>> John Magee, MD: Thank you.
>> You're welcome.
>> John Magee, MD: His previous kidney transplant was on the right side.
Then we're going to go on the left side.
Where exactly we're going to put this kidney is going to depend a little bit
on how big the kidney is, his anatomy.
Can we get the kidney out, please?
Perfect. Thank you.
You can just leave that there for a second.
So now we get the kidney ready to be put into him.
Okay. Good.
How's his blood pressure doing?
>> It's 95 over 66 [phonetic].
>> John Magee, MD: Great.
Thank you.
The kidney is now free.
Everything here looks really good.
And as you can see, the kidney is beautifully pink.
Nice and firm.
Has a lot of blood going through it.
And everything in the operation went well.
As well as the fact that it was a good kidney.
It's always amazing to me, too, how much better people feel after a kidney transplant.
It's almost a miracle the day after.
This is going to be a really good thing for him.
>> Cherisse Davis-Harbour: I just love that we are able
to have organ donors to give people life, new life.
>> Jai'Wan Davis-Harbour: I will finally get me a kidney and go home.
