(Sorry for my English, I did my best ...)
Hi everyone, welcome in this presentation of Laap ATC (Live ATC Auto Play) for FsX / P3D.
If you are a FsX or P3D user, you're probably familiar with an ATC
which sounds like that : "Merignac Airport Information November ..."
It's not very realistic ...
If you like to search on the net as I do,
you probably know this site : LiveATC.net.
You can listen to the real ATC of many airports just typing its OACI.
Direct from Bordeaux ...
You can also download a small file
which extension is PLS (it's the streaming file we're going to get)
It can be opened with VLC.
Same as before, direct from Bordeaux.
The idea for LAAP is,
while you're flying in FsX or P3d,
regarding COM1 or COM2 frequency,
(for example 118,60 is the approach freq of Bordeaux)
it would be nice to automatically launch the corresponding streaming file.
When we leave this frequency, the streaming should stop.
That's what LAAP does, and you'll see it's quite simple.
We're going on LAAP site : http://laap.atc.free.fr
Download - LAAP complete
to avoid robots, there is a short registration procedure
but it's very simple and fast to achieve.
To activate the "Registration" button
just click on buttons that appear.
I'm now registered.
I can go to download page with login and password I've just created.
I choose LAAP for P3D (or for FsX depending what you have).
To be sure you have the latest version,
there is a key system.
This key is free and public, it's available on the site,
and it's available until the date
at the top of page, here 31/03/2014.
At this time, Laap version is 1.2
when you'll come back at the end of the month
to get a new key,
it will be displayed here
and you'll be able to check if current version is still 1.2
or if you can download a newer one.
We're going to keep this key in sight
as we will be asked for at first FsX or P3D start.
I stop the video for my download to be completed.
The download ended.
The setup has not been downloaded before, my antivirus is quite suspicious ...
I start the setup ...
Installation of LAAP for P3D ...
I agree ...
Very important, you need to install in the main FsX or P3D folder. It should be automatically detected.
Right, I'm in F:\Prepar3D v2.
Installing ...
Finished.
I've still my key on the screen, I can start P3D.
It's quite long, video is stopped ...
LAAP indicates that key has not been entered yet.
We can get it on the site ...
Do you wish to enter key now ? Yes.
Entering the key ...
Key recorded, restarting LAAP ...
Now have a look on what has been installed,
it very light ...
All files are in Modules folder :
the main file ipcready.lua
(the Laap code)
and the folder LiveATC Freq
where I've two MP3 files to test : Bordeaux and Biarritz
Two other folders, we'll see them later
or in the documentation.
(in French / English)
So, we have two files, Bordeaux and Biarritz
if I set now Bordeaux Approach on 118,60 ...
Frequency received : 118,60 Bordeaux Approach
(Bordeaux Approach)
VLC has been launch. We can't see it ...
it's hidden here, in tray bar.
If I leave frequency,
Frequency lost ...
VLC has stopped.
This will work for Bordeaux and Biarritz
as we have only these two files.
Now we can add every airport we want ...
For example Madrid ...
I listen to Madrid stream to check if it's active
and by clicking on the second "Listen",
I get the PLS file of Madrid
it's what I'm looking for
because it's the streaming file of Madrid Approach
Just copy this file in LiveATC Freq folder.
The name you'll give to the file is essential
because this name is used to associate the file with frequencies.
First, write the OACI of the airport, then the type of frequency and the extension PLS.
Frequencies types are detailled in the help file.
(APP, CTR, DEP, CLR, UNICOM ...)
So, I renamed my file LEMD_APP.PLS
I can open this file in VLC.
Two ways to make this new file be considered by LAAP : 1/ Restart P3D
it will automatically find that a new file has been added.
2/ Or Shift+² to access LAAP menu then Options
Choice number 4 : Recreate Database
Now, we just have to go to Madrid and set an approach frequency
to have the live ATC in P3D.
Let's go to Madrid ...
Here we are.
I don't have in mind the approach frequency of Madrid,
I'm looking for it in World menu, Map.
We have to go to Madrid because range of ATC is limited to 80NM.
If we are too far, we won't hear anything because frequency can't be got.
127,50 is the approach frequency ...
Now we can see : Frequency received 127,50 Madrid Approach.
As before, VLC has been launch here
and reads the stream ...
(not really busy at this time)
Stream is playing, well. If I leave frequency ...
Frequency lost
we have no more ATC.
Waiting for a controller or an aircraft coming,
let's have a look here : Modules\LiveATC Freq\Data.
If you want Laap in French, it's very simple.
There are 3 files "Language"
only this one is used.
(Wow, Madrid !...)
(I leave frequency)
(We shouldn't hear Madrid anymore now)
Language.lua : it's a text file
with English translation of Laap.
I can delete it,
and I rename LanguageFR.lua to Language.lua
Now, Laap will be in French.
The LAAP.INI file is important too.
In this file, we have :
AutoStart = 1
The frequency monitoring will automatically start with P3D.
If I set AutoStart = 0
no monitoring at startup
and no streaming file will be played.
I can see monitoring is active,
Choice number 1 : I can stop monitoring ...
Monitoring stopped
l'ATC (streams) won't be played now.
So, on 127,50
I only have the P3D standard ATC (when traffic coming).
VLC won't start anymore.
Below, we have ApproxFreqs = 1
It's a bit more complicated, so have a look at the manual.
TransmissionRange : you can change it (default is 80NM) to indicate
the range of the ATC.
AvionicsBusOffset : for cockpit builders
who doesn't use the standard P3D offsets.
The offset 2850 defines
if avionics are powered or not.
If batteries are swhitched to off,
the monitoring will stop.
So, switching the electrical systems off
will stop VLC.
We can change this offset to control it in a sioc code for example
so Laap can be monitored as we want.
DisplayInfo = 1
When you get or leave a frequency,
a green bar appears at the top of the screen. If you don't want it,
just set DisplayInfo = 0.
ComToMonitor : It's the COM number (1 ou 2) to monitor.
If we set 2, frequencies monitored by Laap
will be COM2 frequencies.
MenuKeyValue and MenuKeyShift
let you choose what key opens LAAP menu.
Shift+² is the default one
it's perhaps not what you want.
You can choose the key combination you want
with these parameters.
VLC folder : normally, VLC is found automatically
at first Laap start,
if not, just indicate VLC folder manually
without '\' at the end.
LaapLog = 1 creates a log file
if a problem occurs.
LicenceKey : the key I've entered previously which be available
until the end of this month.
I really hope you'll have
long flights with a real ATC
and this addon can do what you wish !
Thanks for watching, hope to read you soon on the forum
or in Contact if you have any problem.
Hope to see you soon, tchao tchao :-)
